Target Teledyne's defense-adjacent engineering teams
Teledyne hires OPT students primarily into electrical, systems, and software engineering roles tied to defense and aerospace programs. Focus your applications on those divisions rather than corporate or administrative functions, where OPT hiring is far less common.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting
STEM OPT requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify. Before signing any offer from Teledyne, verify their E-Verify participation directly with your DSO, since STEM extension eligibility depends entirely on the employing entity, not just the parent company.
Align your resume with O*NET job zone classifications
Teledyne's technical roles typically fall under O*NET job zones requiring specialized STEM degrees. Cross-reference your degree field with the O*NET occupation profile for the role you're targeting so your credentials map cleanly to the specialty occupation standard.
Time your application around OPT authorization windows
You can apply for OPT up to 90 days before your program end date, but USCIS takes up to 90 days to issue the EAD. Coordinate your Teledyne application timeline so your EAD arrives before your intended start date, not after.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Teledyne's H-1B filing history
Long-term visa planning matters even during OPT. Use Migrate Mate to review Teledyne's H-1B filing history by role and location, so you can assess which positions have the strongest transition pathway before you accept an offer.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search data
Teledyne operates in labor markets with well-documented prevailing wages for engineering roles. Before negotiating your offer, look up the relevant wage level using the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your compensation meets the threshold required for a future H-1B filing.
Teledyne Technologies Incorporated OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Teledyne Technologies Incorporated sponsor OPT visas?
Teledyne doesn't sponsor OPT directly, OPT is work authorization issued by USCIS to the F-1 student, not a petition filed by the employer. What Teledyne does is hire students who already hold an OPT EAD. For STEM OPT extensions, Teledyne's E-Verify enrollment is what enables the 24-month extension, making it a practical choice for STEM graduates.
Which departments at Teledyne Technologies typically hire OPT students?
OPT hiring at Teledyne concentrates in engineering-heavy divisions: electrical engineering, systems engineering, software development, and signal processing teams tied to defense, aerospace, and instrumentation products. Corporate, finance, and HR roles are far less likely to support OPT students, particularly for STEM extension eligibility purposes.
How do I start the OPT process when I have a Teledyne offer?
Once you have a written offer, bring it to your DSO immediately to initiate the OPT recommendation in SEVIS. Your DSO issues a new I-20 with the OPT recommendation, then you file the I-765 with USCIS. Since USCIS processing can take up to 90 days, start this process as early as the 90-day window before your program end date allows.
What is the typical timeline for starting at Teledyne on OPT?
Plan for at least 90 days from application to EAD receipt, since that's USCIS's standard processing window for the I-765. Coordinate your start date with Teledyne's HR team to account for this delay. If your EAD is delayed beyond 90 days, USCIS provides a 180-day automatic extension for timely filed renewal applications in certain circumstances.
How do I find open OPT roles at Teledyne Technologies?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Teledyne Technologies roles filtered for OPT-compatible positions, where you can also review their H-1B filing history to evaluate long-term sponsorship potential. Prioritize roles with explicit STEM degree requirements, since those align with both OPT eligibility and a future STEM extension under the E-Verify requirement.
How does Teledyne Technologies Incorporated hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. Teledyne Technologies Incorporated can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check Teledyne Technologies Incorporated's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
