Align your degree to WEAVER's service lines
WEAVER's audit, tax, and advisory practices each require specific academic backgrounds. Confirm your degree field maps directly to your target service line before applying, since hiring managers assess whether your coursework supports the technical work you'd be doing from day one.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
STEM OPT students need their employer enrolled in E-Verify to file the 24-month extension. Before signing an offer, ask WEAVER's HR team directly whether the specific office location is enrolled, since multi-office firms sometimes have enrollment gaps across entities.
Time your application around WEAVER's busy season hiring
Public accounting firms like WEAVER hire heavily for busy season roles starting in the fall. Applying through campus recruiting in September and October, rather than waiting for spring postings, puts your OPT timeline in closer alignment with their busiest onboarding windows.
Use Migrate Mate to verify WEAVER's H-1B sponsorship history
Your OPT authorization is temporary, so knowing whether WEAVER has a real record of sponsoring H-1B transitions matters. Migrate Mate surfaces WEAVER's DOL Labor Condition Application filing history so you can assess their sponsorship pattern before committing to a role there.
Benchmark your salary expectations against prevailing wage data
WEAVER's offers must meet DOL wage standards for any future H-1B filing tied to your role. Use the OFLC Wage Search and O*NET to find the prevailing wage for your specific accounting occupation and level before your offer negotiation, not after.
Document your CPT work if it overlaps with WEAVER's practice areas
If you completed CPT in audit, tax, or financial advisory, bring documentation of that experience when interviewing at WEAVER. Accounting firms evaluate practical exposure closely, and verifiable prior work in a related practice area directly strengthens your case for post-OPT sponsorship consideration.
WEAVER OPT Eligibility: Frequently Asked Questions
Does WEAVER sponsor OPT visas?
WEAVER doesn't sponsor OPT itself since OPT is work authorization USCIS grants directly to F-1 students, not a visa employers petition for. What WEAVER does is hire students who already hold a valid OPT EAD, and has a track record of supporting H-1B sponsorship for strong performers after OPT ends.
Which roles and departments at WEAVER typically hire OPT students?
WEAVER most commonly hires OPT students into audit, tax, and advisory service lines, particularly at the staff and senior associate levels. Roles in assurance and transaction advisory services are also recurring entry points. Candidates with accounting, finance, or business analytics degrees tend to align most closely with WEAVER's active hiring areas.
How do I know if WEAVER will support my STEM OPT extension?
STEM OPT requires your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify at the specific worksite location. Before accepting a WEAVER offer, ask HR directly whether your assigned office participates in E-Verify. You can also search WEAVER's H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate to gauge their broader pattern of supporting visa transitions beyond the initial OPT period.
How do I position myself for H-1B sponsorship after my OPT at WEAVER?
Perform consistently in your first year, build visibility with practice group leaders, and express your interest in long-term sponsorship early in your second year of OPT. WEAVER's H-1B process requires an approved Labor Condition Application through DOL before USCIS filing, so internal conversations should begin well before the April H-1B cap-subject filing window.
How do I apply for OPT jobs at WEAVER?
Apply through WEAVER's campus recruiting program or their careers portal, and be transparent on your application that you're authorized to work on OPT. Specify your EAD end date and indicate whether you'll need H-1B sponsorship in the future. Accounting firms value candidates who present their visa timeline clearly rather than leaving it for late in the hiring process.
How does WEAVER hire OPT students?
OPT is work authorization granted directly to F-1 students after graduation — no employer petition is required. WEAVER can hire OPT students as soon as their EAD card is approved. STEM degree holders can extend OPT by 24 months when their employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Most companies that hire OPT students also support the transition to H-1B when the student's OPT period is ending. Check WEAVER's individual postings on Migrate Mate to confirm OPT acceptance per role.
