Frame your portfolio around AI product delivery
Google's AI Program Manager interviews assess your ability to drive ambiguous, high-stakes programs from research to deployment. Document specific examples of coordinating ML engineers, data scientists, and product teams through full delivery cycles before you apply.
Target teams building externally shipped AI products
Google's sponsorship decisions are made at the team and business unit level. Roles tied to Google DeepMind, Google Cloud AI, and Search AI infrastructure have historically shown stronger sponsorship engagement than internal tooling or support-adjacent program management positions.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this role. If you're Australian or from Singapore, confirm with your recruiter early whether they'll file E-3 or H-1B1, since those pathways avoid the H-1B lottery entirely and can accelerate your start date significantly.
Align your degree field to the role's specialty occupation framing
USCIS evaluates H-1B petitions on whether the role requires a directly related degree. For AI Program Manager positions, degrees in computer science, information systems, or engineering will support the petition far more cleanly than unrelated fields.
Negotiate your start date around USCIS processing windows
If you require a new H-1B, your employment can't begin before October 1 of the fiscal year your petition covers. Build this into offer negotiations early so your recruiter can account for premium processing timelines or a later start date.

Not every Google job listing clearly indicates visa sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter AI Program Manager roles at Google that are confirmed to sponsor international candidates, so you focus your application effort where it counts.

Find AI Program Manager at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for AI Program Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for AI Program Manager roles. Google participates in the annual H-1B lottery each April and also files cap-exempt petitions where applicable. If you're Australian or Singaporean, you may qualify for the E-3 or H-1B1 pathways respectively, both of which bypass the lottery and can result in faster processing.
How do I apply for AI Program Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal, but the listings don't always specify sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces verified AI Program Manager openings at Google that are open to international candidates, which saves you time filtering through roles that won't support visa sponsorship. Once you apply, expect a recruiter screen followed by a structured interview loop covering program leadership, cross-functional coordination, and technical scoping.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for AI Program Managers?
Google files H-1B petitions most broadly for this role. Australian citizens are commonly sponsored under the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and allows two-year renewable status. Singaporean nationals may qualify for the H-1B1. For senior candidates with exceptional credentials, Google has also sponsored O-1A petitions. The right category depends on your nationality, background, and timing.
What qualifications does Google expect for AI Program Manager roles?
Google typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, combined with direct experience managing cross-functional programs involving machine learning or AI product development. Familiarity with model evaluation cycles, data pipelines, or LLM deployment workflows strengthens your candidacy considerably. Program management certifications alone, without a technical foundation, are unlikely to clear the bar for this role.
How do I understand the H-1B timeline if Google extends me an offer?
If you need a new H-1B, Google would file your petition during the April registration window for an October 1 start. USCIS standard processing takes three to five months after selection; premium processing reduces that to around 15 business days. Factor roughly five to six months between offer acceptance and your earliest possible start date, and discuss this with your Google recruiter before signing.
