Frame your PM credentials around AI delivery
Apple's AI Program Manager roles emphasize shipping ML-driven features across hardware-software pipelines. Document your experience managing model deployment cycles, cross-functional ML teams, or AI product roadmaps before applying, since these specifics drive specialty occupation determinations on your H-1B petition.
Target Apple's AI and Machine Intelligence teams
Apple's Machine Intelligence, Siri, and Core ML organizations post AI Program Manager roles with distinct sponsorship patterns. Filtering your search to these business units improves your odds of landing a role where the team already has established visa filing workflows with Apple's immigration counsel.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Apple's open AI PM roles
AI Program Manager openings at Apple move quickly and don't always stay listed long. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsorship-eligible positions so you're applying to roles where Apple has confirmed it will support visa filings for the right candidate.
Align your degree field to the role's specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to the AI Program Manager duties Apple describes. A background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related quantitative discipline strengthens the specialty occupation argument significantly more than a general management degree alone.
Clarify your OPT end date before the offer stage
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorized period before Apple's offer timeline. Apple's legal team needs enough runway to prepare the H-1B cap filing or, for STEM OPT, the E-Verify-verified extension before your current authorization expires.
Prepare for Apple's cap-exempt filing window if eligible
Candidates transferring from a cap-exempt institution or already holding H-1B status can start at Apple outside the April lottery window. Confirm your current visa history with Apple's immigration team early in the offer process so they can file a cap-exempt or portability petition without delay.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for AI Program Managers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for AI Program Manager roles. The position qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field such as computer science or engineering. Apple works with experienced immigration counsel to handle cap filings, cap-exempt transfers, and H-1B extensions for this function.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for AI Program Manager roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for AI Program Managers, along with the E-3 visa for Australian citizens and TN visa status for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible categories. For candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 status, Apple also supports OPT and STEM OPT employment authorization. Longer-term, Apple files EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for qualifying employees.
How do I apply for AI Program Manager jobs at Apple?
Applications go through Apple's careers site, where AI Program Manager roles are listed under the Operations or AI and Machine Learning job families. Tailoring your resume to reflect ML product delivery, cross-functional team coordination, and technical program execution helps your application stand out. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse Apple's current AI Program Manager openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility.
What qualifications does Apple expect for AI Program Manager roles?
Apple's AI Program Manager postings typically require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, along with experience managing complex software or hardware programs involving machine learning components. Familiarity with ML model deployment pipelines, agile delivery frameworks, and cross-functional stakeholder management across engineering, data science, and product teams is expected at most levels.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to work authorization at Apple?
Timeline depends on your current status. H-1B cap cases require filing during the April lottery window with an October 1 start date, meaning offers made in early spring target the same-year cap season. Transfers from existing H-1B status or cap-exempt filings can start sooner. USCIS premium processing, currently available for H-1B petitions, reduces adjudication to 15 business days and is commonly used for time-sensitive start dates.
