Job Roles at Ames Construction
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Ames Construction Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and technical roles
Ames Construction's Green Card sponsorships concentrate in roles requiring specialized technical expertise, such as civil engineers, project engineers, and estimators. Prioritizing applications to these departments gives you the strongest chance of finding a sponsorship-eligible opening.
Understand the PERM labor certification process
Green Card sponsorship at a construction firm like Ames begins with PERM, where the employer documents that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Familiarize yourself with this process so you can have an informed conversation with the hiring team from the start.
Raise Green Card early in negotiations
Construction companies invest heavily in retaining specialized talent. Bringing up long-term sponsorship interest during the offer stage, rather than after onboarding, signals commitment and gives Ames time to initiate PERM paperwork without disrupting project timelines.
Demonstrate project-critical expertise
PERM requires the employer to justify that your qualifications are genuinely specialized. Highlighting expertise in heavy civil construction, earthmoving, tunneling, or large-scale infrastructure projects strengthens the case that your role cannot easily be filled by a generalist candidate.
Search for verified sponsoring employers before applying
Not every construction company sponsors Green Cards consistently. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your applications on companies like Ames that have an active record of supporting international employees.
Plan for multi-year timelines in your career strategy
Green Card processing in the construction sector typically spans several years when accounting for PERM, I-140 approval, and visa queue wait times. Aligning your professional goals and nonimmigrant visa status with this timeline ensures you remain work-authorized throughout the entire process.

Does Ames Construction sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Ames Construction sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. The company operates in heavy civil construction and infrastructure, industries where specialized international talent is actively recruited and retained through long-term immigration support, including PERM labor certification and immigrant visa petitions such as EB-2 and EB-3.
Which roles at Ames Construction are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Engineering and project management positions are the most common Green Card-sponsored roles at Ames Construction. Civil engineers, project engineers, and construction managers with specialized expertise in large-scale infrastructure tend to qualify because their technical skills support the employer's PERM requirement to demonstrate a genuine need that cannot be met locally.
How do I start the Green Card process at Ames Construction?
The process typically begins after you have joined Ames on a nonimmigrant visa such as H-1B or TN. You and your employer work with an immigration attorney to file a PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Ames initiates and funds this process on your behalf once you are in an eligible role.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Ames Construction?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category and country of birth. EB-3 filings for workers born in countries without significant backlog can move within two to three years from PERM filing to Green Card approval. Indian and Chinese nationals face substantially longer waits due to annual visa caps. Migrate Mate can help you identify your priority date and estimate your personal timeline.
What can I do to strengthen my Green Card application at Ames Construction?
Demonstrating specialized, project-critical skills is the most effective way to support your case. Document your contributions to specific Ames projects, obtain any relevant professional engineering licenses, and maintain clean employment records throughout the PERM process. Gaps in employment or job title changes can reset the labor certification, so stability in your role from filing through approval matters considerably.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Ames Construction?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
