Job Roles at Eli Lilly and Company
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Eli Lilly and Company Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target research and development roles first
Eli Lilly's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in R&D, where specialized pharmaceutical and biotechnology expertise is hardest to replace. Roles in drug discovery, clinical research, and regulatory affairs carry the strongest sponsorship track record at Lilly.
Raise Green Card intent early in the process
Lilly's talent acquisition team is experienced with long-term immigration planning. Asking about Green Card sponsorship during the offer stage, rather than months into employment, sets clear expectations and lets HR begin PERM groundwork without delays.
Understand how your H-1B status connects to Green Card timing
Most Lilly employees pursue Green Card sponsorship while on H-1B status. The earlier PERM labor certification is filed, the earlier your priority date is established, which matters significantly if you're from a backlogged country like India or China.
Look for roles tied to proprietary pharmaceutical programs
Positions supporting Lilly's flagship drug pipelines, including oncology, diabetes, and immunology programs, involve highly specialized knowledge that strengthens PERM justification. Employers can demonstrate with greater ease that no qualified U.S. worker is available for these niche roles.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Lilly openings
Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, making it straightforward to identify open Eli Lilly roles where Green Card sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than an uncertain possibility.
Build tenure before pushing for EB-1 or NIW pathways
Some Lilly scientists with strong publication records or patents pursue EB-1A or EB-2 NIW self-petitions independently of employer sponsorship. Accumulating research output and industry recognition during your time at Lilly can open these faster, employer-independent Green Card routes.

Does Eli Lilly and Company sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Eli Lilly and Company sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Lilly has an established immigration program and regularly supports the PERM labor certification process and subsequent immigrant visa petitions for researchers, scientists, engineers, and other specialized professionals across its biotechnology and pharmaceutical operations.
Which roles and departments at Eli Lilly are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Eli Lilly is most common in research and development, regulatory affairs, clinical development, manufacturing sciences, and data analytics. These functions require specialized pharmaceutical and biotechnology knowledge that aligns with the specialty occupation requirements underpinning both H-1B status and PERM-based Green Card petitions.
How does the Green Card application process work at Eli Lilly and Company?
Lilly typically initiates the process through PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor, followed by an EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petition with USCIS. Lilly's internal immigration team or outside counsel manages the filings. Employees are responsible for keeping their nonimmigrant status valid while the process progresses, which can take several years.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Eli Lilly sponsorship?
Total timeline depends heavily on your country of birth and the visa category used. For applicants born outside backlogged countries, the full process from PERM to Green Card can take two to four years. For nationals born in India or China, per-country demand creates priority date backlogs that can extend the wait considerably beyond that estimate.
How do I improve my chances of securing a Green Card-sponsored role at Eli Lilly?
Focus your application on roles in Lilly's core pharmaceutical programs where specialized expertise is essential and harder to source domestically. Clarify sponsorship expectations before accepting an offer, and document your qualifications thoroughly. Migrate Mate can help you identify open Lilly positions with verified Green Card sponsorship history so you apply where sponsorship is a known practice.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Eli Lilly and Company?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
