Target technically specialized roles
Thermo Fisher Scientific's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in roles requiring specialized scientific or technical expertise. Focus your search on positions in life sciences, bioinformatics, engineering, or research and development where degree-field alignment is clear.
Align your degree to the job description
H-1B eligibility at Thermo Fisher Scientific depends on a direct connection between your degree field and the role. Review job descriptions carefully and ensure your academic background maps specifically to the stated requirements, not just broadly to science.
Apply well ahead of the H-1B cap window
Thermo Fisher Scientific must file H-1B petitions within the annual lottery window opening in March. Start your job search several months in advance so the offer, LCA filing, and petition preparation can be completed before the registration deadline.
Use a platform that filters by real sponsorship history
Not every Thermo Fisher Scientific job posting makes sponsorship eligibility explicit. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus only on roles where international candidates have a genuine path forward.
Prepare for a structured hiring process
Thermo Fisher Scientific operates across large, matrixed science and research divisions. Expect multiple interview rounds involving technical assessments and panel interviews. Demonstrating domain expertise early increases your likelihood of receiving a sponsorship-eligible offer.
Thermo Fisher Scientific H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas on a regular basis. The company operates across life sciences, laboratory equipment, and research services, and its hiring needs frequently require candidates with specialized academic backgrounds that support H-1B eligibility. Sponsorship is most common in technical and scientific roles rather than general corporate functions.
Which roles and departments at Thermo Fisher Scientific typically receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Thermo Fisher Scientific is most common in research and development, bioinformatics, laboratory sciences, engineering, regulatory affairs, and data analytics. These roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard that H-1B petitions must meet.
How does the H-1B application process work at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Once you receive a job offer, Thermo Fisher Scientific's immigration team works with external counsel to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. The process is employer-driven, meaning you won't manage the filing directly, but you will need to provide educational credentials and employment documentation.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
The timeline depends on when you receive your offer relative to the annual H-1B cap cycle. If you miss the April lottery, the earliest a cap-subject H-1B can take effect is October 1. Premium processing can reduce USCIS adjudication to a few weeks, but the lottery registration window in March is a hard constraint that shapes the entire timeline.
How do I find H-1B sponsored jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Thermo Fisher Scientific posts open roles on its careers site, but individual listings don't always specify visa sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate aggregates jobs from verified H-1B sponsors and lets you filter specifically for Thermo Fisher Scientific roles with confirmed sponsorship history, saving you time spent on positions that won't support an H-1B petition.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
