We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About The Role
We are looking for a software engineer with expertise in perception for autonomous vehicles or mobile robots. Your contributions will focus on building out key capabilities of our core simulation engine. As a Perception Engineer on the Fallback Stack team, you will build perception capabilities that help autonomous vehicles recognize uncertainty, degradation, and failure—and respond safely. Your work ensures the system knows its limits and can trigger safe fallback behavior or human assistance when needed. In addition to your engineering contributions, by working in our dynamic and customer-focused team culture, you will contribute to and learn from best practices in the nascent autonomy industry. We move fast and we focus on excellence, for our products and for our business. If you are hands-on and looking for a place to have a multiplying effect on making autonomous systems a reality, Applied is the place for you!
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Design and implement simulation capabilities and workflows to enable cutting-edge real-world perception system development
- Work closely with our sensor simulation team to ensure we build the best range of multi-fidelity simulation models
- Work closely with our infrastructure team to provide the best enterprise software for engineering, testing, and product teams at our customers
- Design perception and uncertainty signals that gate fallback behaviors
- Deploy production systems that directly impact vehicle safety and ODD expansion
Basic Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience using ML for uncertainty estimation, confidence calibration, or OOD detection
- Is passionate about turning their domain expertise into tooling that boosts the productivity of teams working on various real-world applications of autonomous systems
- 5+ years of experience in AV, robotics, or safety-critical perception systems
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python and production-grade software practices
- Has hands-on experience with more than one domain relevant software framework or tools, such as middleware, benchmarking suites, data sets and related pipelines, or algorithmic libraries
- Has worked with production level ML and DL perception algorithms for autonomous vehicles
Preferred Qualifications
Nice to have:
- MSc or PhD in perception or closely related field
- Experience with degraded sensors, adverse weather, or real-world edge cases
- Deep hands-on expertise in relevant algorithms or methods, such as non-linear optimization, computational geometry, numerical analysis, distributed systems
- Familiarity with fallback systems, MRM concepts, or safety cases (ISO/SOTIF)

Job Roles at Applied Intuition Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Applied Intuition Visa Sponsorship USA
Target engineering and technical research roles
Applied Intuition's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines tied to autonomous systems and simulation software. Focus your application on roles where your engineering or research background directly aligns with their core product development work.
Apply well ahead of H-1B cap deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, time your application to allow for offer negotiation and internal processing before the March registration window. Applied Intuition participates in the lottery, so earlier engagement with their recruiting team improves your chances of a smooth timeline.
Look for open roles using a platform that tracks sponsorship history
Not every job board shows which employers actually sponsor visas. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, making it easier to identify current openings at companies like Applied Intuition without guesswork.
Highlight autonomous vehicle or simulation domain knowledge
Applied Intuition works in a specialized industry. Candidates who demonstrate familiarity with AV software stacks, simulation tooling, or safety-critical systems will stand out, and a stronger application reduces friction when the company evaluates sponsorship investment.

Does Applied Intuition sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Applied Intuition sponsors H-1B visas and is one of the more active sponsors in the autonomous vehicle and advanced software space. They participate in the annual H-1B cap lottery and have sponsored a significant volume of H-1B petitions in recent years. Technical and engineering roles are the most common pathway for H-1B sponsorship at the company.
What visa types does Applied Intuition sponsor?
Applied Intuition sponsors a wide range of visa categories including H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and J-1 for nonimmigrant workers. On the permanent residency side, they also sponsor EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. This breadth makes them a strong option for international candidates across different nationalities and immigration stages.
Which roles at Applied Intuition are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Applied Intuition is concentrated in technical roles, particularly software engineering, simulation development, autonomy research, and related science and research functions. These disciplines map directly to the company's core product area. Candidates with backgrounds in machine learning, robotics, or safety-critical systems are well-positioned, as these skills align with the roles where sponsorship has historically been most active.
How do I know if a specific Applied Intuition job listing includes visa sponsorship?
Job listings don't always specify sponsorship eligibility, which makes it easy to waste time applying to roles that won't work for your visa situation. Migrate Mate tracks verified sponsorship data by employer, so you can browse Applied Intuition's open roles alongside their actual sponsorship history. If a listing doesn't mention sponsorship, it's reasonable to ask the recruiter directly during the initial screening call.
How do I time my application to Applied Intuition around the H-1B lottery?
The H-1B lottery registration window typically opens in early March, with petitions filed shortly after for an October 1 start date. To align with this, aim to have an offer in hand by late January or February at the latest. Starting your outreach and interview process in the fall gives you the most runway to negotiate, complete background checks, and allow Applied Intuition's legal team to prepare the registration.
