About Applied Intuition
Applied Intuition, Inc. is powering the future of physical AI. Founded in 2017 and now valued at $15 billion, the Silicon Valley company is creating the digital infrastructure needed to bring intelligence to every moving machine on the planet. Applied Intuition services the automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining and agriculture industries in three core areas: tools and infrastructure, operating systems, and autonomy. Eighteen of the top 20 global automakers, as well as the United States military and its allies, trust the company’s solutions to deliver physical intelligence. Applied Intuition is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with offices in Washington, D.C.; San Diego; Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Ann Arbor, Michigan; London; Stuttgart; Munich; Stockholm; Bangalore; Seoul; and Tokyo. Learn more at applied.co.
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About The Team
The Insights platform is the data and analytics layer underlying Applied Intuition's physical AI development tooling suite. We own the full stack — from ingestion and query infrastructure to data discoverability, dataset management, and next-generation agentic analytics. Our platform gives autonomy engineers complete visibility and control over the data their workflows produce: sensor logs, simulation runs, model eval results, KPIs, and more. It gives users the flexibility to analyze and operationalize that data quickly, minimizing any technical barriers. We're building the next-generation Insights platform for physical AI — one that scales alongside the fleets, simulation environments, and end-to-end models that define where the industry is headed.
What You'll Work On
Ingestion & Data Reliability — The entry point for all data on the platform. The correctness, freshness, and reliability of everything downstream depends on getting this right at scale across a diverse set of upstream sources.
Query Critical Path — The infrastructure every single query in our product flows through. Latency, correctness, and stability here has a direct, visible impact on every user of the platform, every day.
Dashboarding & Autonomy-Native Visualization — The analytics surface that users actually see. Beyond standard BI, we build visualizations and integrations specific to physical AI: geographic views, log and simulation playback, and domain-specific renderers that don't exist off the shelf.
Agentic Analytics — The frontier of what Insights becomes. Building the architecture that lets an AI understand a user's intent, reason about the underlying data and physical AI concepts, and deliver answers, charts, and dashboards entirely through natural language.
Data Discoverability & Governance — The connective tissue that lets users and agents understand what data exists, where it came from, and how to use it. Without this, scale becomes a liability rather than an asset.
Dataset Lifecycle Management — The operational foundation that keeps the data lakehouse healthy and performant as data volumes grow by orders of magnitude.
Data Wrangling & Transformation — The tools that give users agency over their own data — enabling custom preparation and ETL flows without ever leaving the product.
Why This Role
This is a high-ownership role on a small team building the infrastructure that the entire autonomy development workflow depends on. You'll have end-to-end ownership of systems used daily by engineers at some of the most sophisticated autonomous vehicle programs in the world — at a stage where your architectural decisions will shape the platform for years to come.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of industry experience
- Experience building production data infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systems
- Experience with large-scale data processing and query execution at production scale
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals: API design, service reliability, query optimization, distributed system trade-offs, telemetry and monitoring
- Experience with data lakehouse architectures, table formats, or query federation is a strong plus
- Comfort operating across the stack — from storage and query engines to APIs and product-facing tooling
- Familiarity with building for observability: metrics, alerting, and operational health of data systems
- Experience developing, testing, and shipping software with coding agents
- Bonus: experience with LLM tool use, developing agentic workflows, or semantic layers for natural language interfaces
- Bonus: exposure to multimodal data, geospatial systems, or AV/robotics tooling

Align your portfolio with autonomous systems data
Applied Intuition's Data Engineers work on pipelines that process sensor logs, simulation outputs, and vehicle telemetry. Before applying, make sure your portfolio includes work with time-series or high-throughput data, not just general ETL or analytics projects.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship type
Not every Data Engineer opening at Applied Intuition will have identical sponsorship terms. Use Migrate Mate to browse current listings filtered by visa category so you target roles where your specific status is already supported.
Request an LCA-confirmed offer before resigning
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate an H-1B petition. Ask Applied Intuition's recruiting team for a written timeline covering LCA certification and I-129 filing before you give notice at a current role.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter early
Data Engineer roles at Applied Intuition typically require a bachelor's in computer science, engineering, or a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation completed before your interview stage to avoid delays during the specialty occupation assessment.

Find Data Engineer at Applied Intuition JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Applied Intuition sponsor H-1B visas for Data Engineers?
Yes, Applied Intuition sponsors H-1B visas for Data Engineer roles. The company files petitions through the standard USCIS cap process each April, so your offer timing matters. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a cap-exempt transfer may be possible depending on your situation. Confirm the specific pathway with your recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Data Engineer jobs at Applied Intuition?
You can browse and apply for Data Engineer openings at Applied Intuition directly through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Applied Intuition's hiring process for Data Engineers typically involves a recruiter screen, a technical assessment focused on data infrastructure and pipeline design, and several rounds of interviews with the engineering team.
Which visa types does Applied Intuition commonly use for Data Engineers?
Applied Intuition sponsors a range of visa categories for Data Engineer roles, including H-1B, H-1B1 (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 (for Australian citizens), TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. Your nationality and current immigration status will determine which category applies to you.
What qualifications does Applied Intuition expect for Data Engineer roles?
Applied Intuition's Data Engineer positions are technical and research-adjacent. You'll generally need a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, along with hands-on experience building data pipelines, managing large datasets, and working with distributed systems. Familiarity with simulation data, sensor outputs, or safety-critical infrastructure is a meaningful differentiator given the company's focus on autonomous vehicle software.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving an offer from Applied Intuition?
Timeline depends on your visa category. For H-1B, the DOL must certify the Labor Condition Application (typically within seven business days) before USCIS can begin processing the I-129 petition, which can take several months under standard processing or two to three weeks with premium processing. E-3 and TN petitions generally move faster. Build at least 90 days into your planning after an offer is signed.
