About Applied Intuition
Applied Intuition, Inc. is powering the future of physical AI. Founded in 2017 and now valued at $15 billion, the Silicon Valley company is creating the digital infrastructure needed to bring intelligence to every moving machine on the planet. Applied Intuition services the automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining and agriculture industries in three core areas: tools and infrastructure, operating systems, and autonomy. Eighteen of the top 20 global automakers, as well as the United States military and its allies, trust the company’s solutions to deliver physical intelligence. Applied Intuition is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with offices in Washington, D.C.; San Diego; Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Ann Arbor, Michigan; London; Stuttgart; Munich; Stockholm; Bangalore; Seoul; and Tokyo.
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About The Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Data Platform team within the Data Engineering group. In this role, you will manage a world class data engineering team responsible for the full data lifecycle — from collection and ingestion to storage, querying, and retrieval — at hundreds of PBs scale. You will partner closely with all business units across Applied Intuition to define the technical roadmap for our data platform and ensure we can reliably support both external products and internal tooling across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem deployments. This is a highly cross-functional leadership role that requires deep technical credibility, strong people management skills, and a bias for ownership. At Applied Intuition, engineering managers are expected to be hands-on leaders who actively engage in technical direction, not just people management.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Lead, grow, and mentor a team of data infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for data infrastructure, balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability
- Partner with engineering, product, and business unit leaders to align data infrastructure investments with company priorities
- Own the architecture and reliability of systems that handle the full data lifecycle across all deployment environments (cloud, hybrid, on-prem) and regions
- Drive engineering decisions around scalable data ingestion, indexing, storage, and retrieval for high-volume autonomous vehicle and physical AI workloads
- Champion the adoption of modern open-source data technologies and maintain a disciplined approach to build-vs-buy decisions
- Establish and uphold engineering best practices, code quality standards, and operational excellence across the team
- Recruit top engineering talent and build an inclusive, high-performing team
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 2+ years in an engineering management or tech lead role
- Hands-on experience with large-scale open-source data technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hudi/Iceberg, Flyte, etc.)
- A strong track record of leading teams that build and operate high-scale distributed data systems
- Experience managing engineers across the full data lifecycle in a production environment
- Deep understanding of containerization, cloud-native architectures, and modern software development workflows
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction at a senior level
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, C++, GoLang, Scala, etc.)
- Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Background in enterprise software environments, including on-prem and hybrid deployments
- Familiarity with data quality, data profiling, and data governance frameworks
- Experience hiring and building data infrastructure teams from the ground up
- Prior exposure to automotive, defense, robotics, or other physical AI domains

Tailor Your Portfolio to Autonomous Systems
Applied Intuition's Engineering roles center on simulation tooling, sensor fusion, and ADAS validation. Highlight any hands-on experience with autonomous vehicle stacks, real-time embedded systems, or safety-critical software to align your credentials with what their teams are actively building.
Verify Your Visa Type Fits the Role
Applied Intuition sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT, but eligibility depends on your nationality and degree field. Confirm your visa category maps to a specialty occupation before applying, since a mismatch can stall an offer even when the technical fit is strong.
Search Sponsored Engineering Roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by Applied Intuition on Migrate Mate to surface their active Engineering openings with confirmed visa sponsorship. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship is ambiguous and lets you focus your effort where the pathway is already established.
Apply Before Your OPT Window Closes
If you're on F-1 OPT, time your application so an offer and I-983 or H-1B cap filing can be completed before your authorization expires. Applied Intuition's hiring cycles for Engineering roles can run several months, so starting early gives USCIS processing time its full margin.
Request LCA Posting Records During Offer Negotiation
Once an offer is extended, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Ask your recruiter for the expected LCA timeline so you can track where you are in the filing sequence and avoid surprises.
Prepare for a Technical Bar Focused on Systems Depth
Applied Intuition's Engineering interviews assess low-level systems knowledge, including real-time constraints, C++ performance, and software reliability under failure conditions. Demonstrating depth in these areas strengthens your candidacy and signals the specialized background that supports a specialty occupation classification at USCIS.

Does Applied Intuition sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Applied Intuition sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The process requires the company to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit a petition to USCIS on your behalf. For new H-1B beneficiaries subject to the annual cap, timing your application around the April filing window is essential since cap-subject petitions require selection in the lottery before processing begins.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Applied Intuition?
Applications go through Applied Intuition's careers page, where Engineering roles are listed by team, including vehicle software, simulation, and developer tools. Browse open positions on Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship. Have your resume, GitHub or portfolio links, and any relevant autonomous systems or embedded software projects ready before you apply, as technical screens begin quickly.
Which visa types does Applied Intuition commonly use for Engineering roles?
Applied Intuition sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Engineering positions, along with E-3 visas for Australian citizens and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates are also supported, and the company files EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa petitions for permanent residence pathways, which is relevant if you're planning a long-term career there.
What qualifications does Applied Intuition expect for Engineering roles?
Most Engineering roles at Applied Intuition require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a closely related field. Practical experience with C++, Python, real-time systems, or autonomous vehicle software is commonly expected. Roles focused on simulation or validation often require familiarity with sensor data pipelines or ADAS testing environments. The degree requirement also supports the specialty occupation classification needed for H-1B sponsorship.
What should I know about the sponsorship timeline for Engineering roles at Applied Intuition?
From offer acceptance to visa approval, the timeline varies by visa type. H-1B petitions filed under regular processing can take several months after USCIS receives them in April, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest for cap-subject cases. E-3 and TN visas move faster since they don't require lottery selection. F-1 OPT extensions, including STEM OPT, allow you to work while a longer-term petition is pending, giving you up to three years of runway.
