About Applied Intuition
Applied Intuition, Inc. is powering the future of physical AI. Founded in 2017 and now valued at $15 billion, the Silicon Valley company is creating the digital infrastructure needed to bring intelligence to every moving machine on the planet. Applied Intuition services the automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining and agriculture industries in three core areas: tools and infrastructure, operating systems, and autonomy. Eighteen of the top 20 global automakers, as well as the United States military and its allies, trust the company’s solutions to deliver physical intelligence. Applied Intuition is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with offices in Washington, D.C.; San Diego; Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; Ann Arbor, Michigan; London; Stuttgart; Munich; Stockholm; Bangalore; Seoul; and Tokyo.
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About The Role
We are building on-device intelligence for a next-generation Android Automotive platform. This role owns the end-to-end lifecycle of embedded ML systems, ensuring models behave predictably and safely in production environments under real-world constraints such as latency, thermal limits, and functional safety. At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Deploy and run production-grade ML inference and learning systems on Android Automotive (AAOS)
- Implement on-device multimodal LLMs, including schema design and safe dispatch to local vehicle APIs
- Integrate models using TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime, or specialized vendor SDKs
- Profile and optimize models for strict latency, memory, power, and thermal budgets
- Instrument runtime performance across CPU, GPU, and NPU acceleration layers
- Design safety boundaries and guardrails for model outputs, including tool-call allowlists and fallback logic
- Interface directly with vehicle signals, sensors, and system services using C++ and JNI
Basic Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who has:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience shipping ML inference on embedded, mobile, or automotive platforms
- Strong proficiency in C++ and experience with native Android integration (JNI)
- Expertise in model optimization techniques such as quantization, pruning, and compilation
- Experience integrating LLM function calling or tool execution with structured outputs
- Hands-on experience with Android system services or Android Automotive OS (AAOS)
- Deep understanding of edge constraints including real-time behavior and memory pressure
Preferred Qualifications
Nice to have:
- Experience with Snapdragon Automotive, ARM Ethos, or specialized NPU pipelines
- Background in running quantized LLMs on-device using llama.cpp or TFLite transformers
- Familiarity with functional safety concepts (ISO 26262), sandboxing, or policy enforcement
- Experience bridging cloud-trained models to resource-constrained embedded runtimes

Align your portfolio to safety-critical systems
Applied Intuition's embedded work centers on ADAS and autonomous vehicle platforms, not general firmware. Portfolios that show real-time OS experience, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or ISO 26262 familiarity will read as directly relevant to their hiring team.
Time your OPT application around their hiring cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT targeting an embedded role, USCIS recommends filing your EAD at least 90 days before your program end date. Applied Intuition's offer-to-start timelines for technical roles can be several weeks, so a late OPT filing can push your start date past their window.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active embedded openings
Applied Intuition lists embedded roles across different specializations and seniority levels at various times. Use Migrate Mate to filter their current openings by visa type so you can identify which positions are actively sponsoring before you invest time tailoring your application.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
Embedded specialty occupation petitions require USCIS to confirm your degree field directly supports the role. If your degree is in a related but non-obvious discipline, like mechatronics or applied physics, gather course transcripts and a credentials evaluation before you receive an offer.
Ask recruiters about their PERM timeline for this role
If long-term immigration is a priority, ask whether Applied Intuition pursues PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for embedded engineers. The DOL PERM process can take 18 months or more, and knowing their policy early helps you plan around H-1B six-year limits.

Does Applied Intuition sponsor H-1B visas for Embeddeds?
Yes, Applied Intuition sponsors H-1B visas for Embedded roles. Embedded engineering positions at Applied Intuition qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline. H-1B sponsorship is initiated by the employer after an offer is extended, and Applied Intuition has demonstrated consistent sponsorship activity across its engineering functions.
How do I apply for Embedded jobs at Applied Intuition?
Applications go through Applied Intuition's careers page, where embedded roles are listed under engineering or software categories. You can also browse and filter their active visa-sponsoring openings through Migrate Mate. Technical screens for embedded positions typically include a coding or systems design assessment followed by multiple rounds focused on real-time software, OS internals, and autonomous vehicle platform knowledge.
Which visa types are commonly used for Embedded roles at Applied Intuition?
Applied Intuition sponsors several visa categories for Embedded engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals under the USMCA, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students on valid program authorization. The right category depends on your nationality, degree status, and how far along you are in the hiring process.
What qualifications and experience does Applied Intuition look for in Embedded engineers?
Applied Intuition's embedded roles typically require experience with real-time operating systems, low-level C or C++ development, and familiarity with automotive or safety-critical software environments. Experience with ADAS simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or autonomous vehicle sensor integration strengthens a candidacy. For visa sponsorship eligibility, you'll need a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
How do I manage the timing between an offer from Applied Intuition and my visa filing?
Applied Intuition's legal and HR teams typically initiate the visa process after an offer is accepted, but your own preparation affects how smoothly that goes. For H-1B, the annual cap registration window opens in March and employment cannot begin before October 1. For E-3 and TN, processing can move faster since these are not cap-subject. Having your educational credentials, employment history, and passport documentation organized before the offer stage prevents delays once the employer begins filing.
