Frame your credentials around retail operations
PetSmart prioritizes program managers who can demonstrate experience coordinating large-scale retail initiatives, such as store rollouts, inventory systems, or omnichannel projects. Tailor your resume to reflect those specific contexts before you apply.
Search open roles using Migrate Mate
Filter for Project Program Manager positions at PetSmart on Migrate Mate to surface roles flagged for visa sponsorship eligibility. This cuts down the time spent guessing which postings are worth pursuing if you need employer-sponsored status.
Target PetSmart's Phoenix headquarters pipeline
Most corporate program management hiring at PetSmart flows through its Phoenix, Arizona headquarters. Concentrate your outreach and application activity there rather than spreading across retail store locations, which rarely originate corporate visa sponsorships.
Clarify sponsorship intent before your first interview
Ask your recruiter during the screening call whether the specific role is approved for H-1B or PERM sponsorship. Some program manager headcount is open only to candidates already authorized to work, so confirming early prevents wasted time on both sides.
Understand how LCA prevailing wage affects your offer
Before H-1B filing, your employer submits a Labor Condition Application to DOL certifying your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your role and location. For Phoenix-based program manager roles, confirm your offer aligns with that threshold to avoid delays.
Use OPT STEM extension time strategically
If you're on F-1 OPT, a STEM extension can give you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, spanning two H-1B lottery cycles. Starting at PetSmart during OPT creates time for the company to build a sponsorship case before your status becomes urgent.

Find Project Program Manager at PetSmart JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does PetSmart sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, PetSmart has sponsored H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles. Sponsorship is not automatic for every open position, so you should confirm with the recruiter early in the process whether the specific role you're applying for is approved for H-1B sponsorship. Corporate program management positions based at PetSmart's Phoenix headquarters are the most common source of these sponsorships.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at PetSmart?
Applications go through PetSmart's careers site, where you can filter by job function and location. You can also browse current Project Program Manager openings at PetSmart that are flagged for visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify relevant roles without sorting through positions that don't support sponsored candidates. Applying directly through the official portal is still required.
Which visa types does PetSmart commonly use for Project Program Managers?
PetSmart has used H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, EB-2, and EB-3 for this function. H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant path for full-time corporate roles. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. EB-2 and EB-3 represent the immigrant visa track, typically initiated after a candidate has been employed with the company for some time.
What qualifications does PetSmart expect for Project Program Manager roles?
PetSmart typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience managing cross-functional programs in a retail or consumer-facing environment. Familiarity with project management methodologies such as PMP certification, Agile, or Scrum is a common differentiator. Experience with store operations, supply chain programs, or vendor coordination is more relevant here than general corporate program management.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship to work at PetSmart?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so your offer needs to be in place before the registration window opens in March. If you're currently on OPT, cap-gap protection under F-1 rules allows you to keep working if your OPT expires while the petition is pending. USCIS premium processing is available and reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days, which most employers use to reduce uncertainty.
