Match your degree to USMCA professions
TN eligibility at AMETEK depends on your role appearing on the USMCA professions list and your degree directly matching that occupation. Cross-reference your credential against O*NET profiles for engineering and scientific roles before applying to confirm the classification holds up at the border.
Target AMETEK's instrumentation and sensor divisions
AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group hire most of its TN-eligible technical talent. Roles in test and measurement, precision sensing, and power electronics align closely with USMCA-covered engineering and scientific occupations, giving you stronger footing than broader corporate functions.
Request a detailed offer letter early
AMETEK's offer letter must specify your job title, duties, your USMCA profession category, and that the position requires your degree field. A vague letter causes border delays or denials, so confirm with the recruiter that HR has issued TN letters before and understands the documentation standard.
Prepare for CBP questioning on specialty duties
Canadian candidates presenting at a port of entry should expect a CBP officer to probe whether day-to-day duties genuinely require the theoretical and practical application of a specialized field. Rehearse a concise explanation connecting your engineering or scientific tasks directly to AMETEK's product development or quality systems work.
Use Migrate Mate to verify AMETEK's TN hiring history
Before reaching out to AMETEK recruiters, search Migrate Mate to review the company's cross-border hiring patterns for TN-eligible roles. Knowing which departments and job titles have historically supported TN admission sharpens your outreach and helps you target the right hiring managers.
Align your resume to USMCA-listed occupational language
AMETEK recruiters screening TN candidates notice immediately when a resume uses generic titles like 'technical lead' instead of recognized USMCA categories like 'engineer' or 'computer systems analyst.' Reframe your experience using occupation titles that map cleanly to the professions list without misrepresenting your actual role.
AMETEK TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor TN visas?
Yes, AMETEK supports TN admission for eligible Canadian and Mexican professionals by issuing offer letters for qualifying roles. Because TN is treaty-based admission under USMCA rather than an employer petition, there is no USCIS filing involved. AMETEK provides the documentation; you present it at a port of entry or U.S. consulate.
Which roles at AMETEK typically qualify for TN status?
Roles in electrical and mechanical engineering, scientific research, computer systems analysis, and related technical disciplines within AMETEK's Electronic Instruments and Electromechanical groups align most closely with USMCA-covered professions. Positions in general management, sales, or operations support typically fall outside the eligible occupations list and wouldn't qualify for TN status.
How do I start the TN process after receiving an AMETEK offer?
Once AMETEK issues a formal offer letter confirming your USMCA profession category and degree requirement, Canadian nationals present the letter directly to a CBP officer at the port of entry. Mexican nationals schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate. No USCIS petition is filed, and there is no lottery or quota to navigate.
How long does TN admission take for AMETEK roles?
Canadian professionals are typically admitted the same day at the port of entry if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face longer timelines tied to consular appointment availability, which varies by location and time of year. AMETEK's offer letter must be current and accurate, as any discrepancy can require correction before admission is granted.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at AMETEK?
Search Migrate Mate to identify AMETEK roles that align with USMCA profession categories and the company's cross-border hiring history. Then apply directly through AMETEK's careers page, filtering for engineering and technical positions in its Electronic Instruments or Electromechanical divisions, where TN-eligible roles are most concentrated.
How does TN visa admission work at AMETEK?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from AMETEK, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
