Verify your occupation maps to USMCA
TN eligibility depends on your role matching a recognized USMCA profession. For Brainlab, titles like Systems Engineer, Computer Systems Analyst, or Scientific Technician align well. Cross-reference your exact job title against the USMCA professions list before applying to confirm you qualify.
Align your degree field to the role
Brainlab's clinical and engineering roles require your degree to directly relate to the position, not just your industry experience. A biomedical engineering degree supports a systems engineering role; a general business degree typically does not. Mismatches at the border are the leading cause of TN denials.
Request a detailed offer letter from Brainlab
Brainlab's offer letter must specify your job title, duties, TN profession category, duration, and compensation. Border officers assess TN eligibility from this document alone. A vague letter describing broad responsibilities rather than a specific USMCA-eligible role creates unnecessary risk at the port of entry.
Search Migrate Mate to target active TN employers
Before reaching the offer stage, identify which medical device companies actively support TN admissions across engineering and clinical roles. Migrate Mate surfaces employer hiring patterns by visa type so you can prioritize outreach to companies like Brainlab with demonstrated TN hiring in your occupation.
Prepare credentials documentation for the border
Canadian nationals present TN documents directly at a U.S. port of entry without a prior visa appointment. Bring your degree transcripts, professional credentials, and Brainlab's offer letter as a package. CBP officers can and do request additional evidence, so certified transcripts carry more weight than unofficial copies.
Understand that TN status does not carry dual intent
Brainlab also sponsors H-1B visa and employment-based Green Cards, but pursuing permanent residence while on TN status can complicate future TN admissions. If Brainlab initiates a PERM labor certification for you, discuss the timing with your immigration contact before your next TN renewal at the border.
Brainlab TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Brainlab sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Brainlab supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. Rather than filing a petition, Brainlab issues an offer letter that you present at the border or a U.S. consulate. Eligible occupations at Brainlab include engineering, software, clinical applications, and regulatory functions that map to USMCA-recognized professions.
Which roles at Brainlab typically qualify for TN status?
Brainlab's TN-eligible roles concentrate in engineering, software development, clinical applications, and scientific or regulatory positions. Titles such as Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, Computer Systems Analyst, and Clinical Application Specialist align with recognized USMCA professions. Sales and general management roles rarely qualify unless the position description ties directly to a listed occupation.
How do I start the TN process when applying to Brainlab?
Once Brainlab extends a job offer, you request a detailed TN support letter specifying your role, duties, USMCA profession category, and employment duration. Canadian nationals then present this letter at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved.
How long does TN admission at Brainlab typically take?
For Canadian nationals, CBP adjudicates TN status on the spot at the port of entry, typically within one to two hours. Mexican nationals follow the consular nonimmigrant visa process, which varies by post and appointment availability. TN status is granted in up to three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely while you remain employed at Brainlab.
How do I find open TN-eligible jobs at Brainlab?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type and employer TN hiring patterns, making it easier to identify Brainlab roles that have historically supported TN admission rather than sorting through listings manually. Once you identify a target role, confirm the job title maps to a USMCA profession using O*NET before submitting your application.
How does TN visa admission work at Brainlab?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Brainlab, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
