Verify your occupation against USMCA
TN eligibility depends entirely on whether your job title maps to an approved USMCA profession. Cross-reference your role against the official list before applying to Carilion Clinic, a mismatch in job duties or title wording will cause a border officer to deny admission regardless of your credentials.
Obtain a credential evaluation before applying
Carilion Clinic operates in a credentialed healthcare environment where degree equivalency matters. Canadian and Mexican nationals with foreign degrees should secure a formal credential evaluation from a NACES-accredited evaluator before the offer stage, as consulates and border officers may scrutinize non-U.S. qualifications closely.
Request a detailed support letter from HR
Carilion Clinic's HR team issues offer letters for TN candidates, but the letter must specify your job title, duties, USMCA profession category, and employment duration. Ask explicitly for all four elements, a vague letter is the most common reason TN admission is questioned at the port of entry.
Search Carilion Clinic's verified TN roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate shows which roles at Carilion Clinic align with TN-eligible USMCA professions, so you can target open positions before reaching out to recruiters. Filtering by TN eligibility saves time and prevents applying to roles that don't meet the treaty's occupational requirements.
Prepare for port-of-entry admission as a Canadian
Canadian nationals don't use a consulate, TN admission happens directly at the U.S. port of entry. Bring your original offer letter, degree transcripts, and any professional licenses in a single organized packet. USCIS guidance confirms officers adjudicate TN requests on the spot, so documentation quality is everything.
Align your resume duties with TN profession language
Carilion Clinic's business support and outsourcing roles can blur the line between qualifying and non-qualifying TN professions. Rewrite your resume to mirror the specific USMCA profession category your role falls under, not just your job title. Border officers compare stated duties to the treaty definition, not your employer's internal job description.
Carilion Clinic TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Carilion Clinic sponsor TN visas?
Carilion Clinic supports TN admission for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals by issuing offer letters for USMCA-eligible roles. TN isn't a petition or filing process, Carilion Clinic doesn't submit anything to USCIS. Instead, the company provides documentation you use at the border or U.S. consulate to establish TN status yourself.
Which roles at Carilion Clinic typically qualify for TN status?
Roles in healthcare administration, business analysis, accounting, and management consulting commonly align with USMCA profession categories at Carilion Clinic. Clinical roles requiring specific licensed credentials, such as registered nurses, medical technologists, and physical therapists, also frequently qualify. The key factor is whether your job title and duties match an approved USMCA profession, not Carilion Clinic's internal classification.
How do I navigate the TN process after receiving an offer from Carilion Clinic?
Once Carilion Clinic extends an offer, request a detailed support letter covering your USMCA profession category, job duties, and employment period. Canadians present this at the port of entry without a prior visa appointment. Mexican nationals must schedule a TN visa interview at a U.S. consulate. USCIS publishes the full documentary requirements for both pathways.
How long does TN status take to process for Carilion Clinic roles?
Canadian nationals typically receive a decision at the port of entry on the same day, making the timeline dependent almost entirely on border wait times. Mexican nationals face consulate scheduling delays that vary by location and season, often ranging from a few weeks to a couple of months. Neither pathway involves USCIS petition processing times.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Carilion Clinic?
Not every open role at Carilion Clinic maps to a USMCA profession, so filtering matters before you apply. Migrate Mate lets you search Carilion Clinic's listings by TN eligibility, helping you identify roles where the job duties align with treaty requirements. Applying to pre-qualified roles avoids the frustration of pursuing offers that can't support TN admission.
How does TN visa admission work at Carilion Clinic?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Carilion Clinic, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
