Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed under USMCA. Accountants, auditors, and management consultants are on that list. Before applying to CBIZ, confirm your degree and job title map directly to a qualifying USMCA category, not just a related field.
Target CBIZ's audit and advisory practices
CBIZ's core service lines in assurance, tax, and business advisory are the most natural fit for TN-eligible candidates. Focus your search on roles in those practices rather than operational or administrative positions, which rarely map to USMCA profession categories.
Request a support letter before your border appointment
CBIZ doesn't file anything with USCIS for TN candidates. Once you have an offer, ask HR explicitly for a TN support letter on company letterhead. Canadians present this at a port of entry. Mexicans use it to schedule a U.S. consulate appointment.
Benchmark your offer against prevailing wages
Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your occupation and work location before accepting. CBIZ operates across multiple states, and wage floors differ by metro area. Arriving underpaid raises red flags at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to find CBIZ TN job openings
Search Migrate Mate to identify current CBIZ roles that align with TN-eligible occupations. The platform filters for employers with TN hiring history, so you can focus your applications on positions where the immigration pathway is already understood by the hiring team.
Prepare your credential documentation using O*NET
Border officers assess whether your degree matches your job duties. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for your target role and map your transcript and work experience to that description. A clear credential-to-duties match reduces the chance of a TN denial at the port of entry.
CBIZ TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does CBIZ sponsor TN visas?
CBIZ hires TN professionals and issues support letters for qualifying candidates. TN is not an employer-filed petition, so CBIZ's role is to provide an offer letter and documentation confirming the role meets USMCA profession requirements. Canadian applicants then present that letter at a port of entry, while Mexican applicants use it to apply at a U.S. consulate.
Which roles at CBIZ typically qualify for TN admission?
Roles in audit, tax, and business advisory are the most common TN-eligible positions at CBIZ. Job titles like accountant, auditor, and management consultant map directly to USMCA-listed professions. Support, sales, or generalist operations roles typically don't qualify because they don't correspond to a named USMCA occupation.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a CBIZ offer?
Ask CBIZ HR for a TN support letter on company letterhead once your offer is confirmed. The letter should describe your role, your qualifications, and why the position qualifies under USMCA. Canadian citizens take that letter to a U.S. port of entry. Mexican citizens schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate. USCIS is not involved for Canadians.
How long does TN admission take for CBIZ candidates?
Canadian applicants can receive TN admission the same day at a port of entry if documentation is complete. Mexican applicants follow consulate scheduling timelines, which vary by location and season. TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals, so once you're in, maintaining status is straightforward as long as you remain in a qualifying role at CBIZ.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at CBIZ?
Search Migrate Mate to browse current CBIZ openings filtered for TN-compatible roles. Look specifically for positions in audit, tax, and advisory services where your credentials align with a USMCA profession. Applying directly to roles where the job description matches an O*NET occupation profile gives you the clearest path to a successful TN admission.
How does TN visa admission work at CBIZ?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from CBIZ, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
