Match your occupation to USMCA categories
CBRE hires across architecture, engineering, and management consulting functions, but TN admission only covers specific USMCA-listed professions. Cross-reference your target role's job description against the USMCA professions list before applying to confirm your occupation qualifies, not just your industry.
Align your degree field with the role
TN requires a direct relationship between your credential and the job. At CBRE, a civil engineering role typically needs an engineering degree, not a general business one. Misaligned degrees are a common border denial trigger, so confirm the match before your interview.
Search CBRE roles using verified sponsorship data
Use Migrate Mate to filter CBRE job listings by TN-eligible roles, so you're applying to positions where the company actively hires professionals on TN status. Targeting the right roles upfront reduces the risk of pursuing opportunities that don't support TN admission.
Request a detailed offer letter early
CBRE's offer letter is your primary document at the border or consulate. It must state your job title, USMCA profession category, salary, and employment duration. Ask your recruiter to confirm all four elements are included before you finalize travel or consulate appointment plans.
Prepare for border questions on project scope
CBRE's real estate advisory and project management work can raise questions about whether your role involves independent contracting rather than direct employment. Be ready to explain your reporting structure, who directs your work, and that CBRE is your direct employer, not a client.
Use O*NET to document your professional duties
Before your border or consulate appointment, pull your role's O*NET occupation profile and compare its listed tasks to your offer letter duties. Border officers assess whether your actual responsibilities match the USMCA profession category, and documented alignment strengthens your case significantly.
CBRE TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does CBRE sponsor TN visas?
CBRE supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-qualifying occupations, including roles in engineering, architecture, and management consulting within its construction and real estate operations. CBRE does not file a petition with USCIS. Instead, it issues an offer letter you present at the port of entry or U.S. consulate to establish TN status.
Which CBRE roles and departments typically support TN admission?
TN-eligible roles at CBRE most commonly appear in project management, structural and civil engineering, facilities management, and real estate advisory services. These functions map to USMCA professions such as engineer, architect, and management consultant. Roles in general operations or sales that don't correspond to a listed USMCA profession are unlikely to qualify for TN status.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a CBRE offer?
Once CBRE issues your offer letter, Canadians can present it directly at a U.S. port of entry without a prior consulate appointment. Mexican nationals must schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate. In both cases, you'll need your offer letter, credential documentation, and proof that your role aligns with a USMCA profession category.
How long does TN admission take when starting with CBRE?
For Canadians, TN admission at the border is typically same-day if your documents are in order. Mexican nationals face consulate appointment wait times that vary by location and season, sometimes ranging from a few weeks to several months. Confirm current wait times through USCIS and plan your start date with CBRE's HR team accordingly.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at CBRE?
Migrate Mate lists CBRE roles filtered by visa type, letting you focus your search on positions where TN admission is a realistic path. From there, confirm the role's job description maps to a USMCA profession before applying. Targeting roles with the right occupation alignment from the start saves significant time in the process.
How does TN visa admission work at CBRE?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from CBRE, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
