Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations on the USMCA professions list, so confirm your exact role title and degree field map to an eligible category before applying to DENSO. Cross-reference your occupation code using O*NET to strengthen the match you present at admission.
Target DENSO's engineering and R&D teams
DENSO's U.S. hiring concentrates in powertrain systems, electrification, and thermal management engineering. These technical roles align closely with TN-eligible engineer categories. Prioritize job postings from DENSO's Michigan and Tennessee facilities, where their North American engineering operations are most active.
Request a role-specific offer letter early
DENSO's offer letter must describe your specific duties, confirm the TN profession category, state your wage, and confirm employment is temporary. Ask HR explicitly for a TN support letter rather than a standard offer. Vague job descriptions are the leading cause of TN delays at the border.
Verify your wage against prevailing rates
Before your border or consulate appointment, check your offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search for your occupation and work location. If DENSO's offer falls below the prevailing wage for your role in Michigan or Tennessee, you'll want to address that before admission, not at the port of entry.
Use Migrate Mate to find DENSO TN openings
Searching for TN-eligible roles at large automotive manufacturers takes more than a generic job board. Migrate Mate filters listings by employer TN support history and visa type, so you can identify which DENSO postings are genuinely open to Canadian and Mexican TN professionals without wading through unsponsored roles.
Prepare a Canadian border crossing packet correctly
Canadian nationals don't need a visa stamp but must bring a complete packet to the port of entry: DENSO's offer letter, your academic credentials, and proof your degree field matches the profession. CBP officers at land borders and airports make the admission decision on the spot, so gaps in documentation cause immediate problems.
DENSO TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does DENSO sponsor TN visas?
DENSO supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible USMCA profession categories, primarily in engineering and technical roles. DENSO doesn't file a petition with USCIS for TN workers. Instead, DENSO issues an offer letter that you present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. Your admission is approved by CBP or a consular officer, not by DENSO or USCIS.
Which roles and departments at DENSO typically qualify for TN admission?
DENSO's engineering divisions, including powertrain systems, electrification, thermal management, and R&D, are the most likely sources of TN-eligible roles. These positions typically require a degree in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering, which map directly to USMCA engineer categories. Manufacturing and supply chain roles may qualify depending on how the position is classified.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a DENSO offer?
Once DENSO extends an offer, ask HR for a TN-specific support letter that names your profession category, describes your duties, and confirms your wage and employment period. Canadian nationals then present this letter at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate abroad. No USCIS filing or Labor Condition Application is required for TN.
How long does TN admission take for a DENSO role?
Canadian nationals who qualify can receive TN admission at the border the same day they apply, assuming documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face longer timelines because they must schedule a consular interview, which varies by post and season. Migrate Mate can help you identify DENSO openings and prepare a complete documentation set before you reach that step.
Can I transfer from an H-1B or other visa status to TN at DENSO?
Yes, if you're already in the U.S. on another status, you can leave and reenter as a TN worker once DENSO has issued your offer letter. Alternatively, you may request a change of status to TN through USCIS without leaving the country. Either path requires that your DENSO role falls within a USMCA-eligible profession and that you hold the required credentials.
How does TN visa admission work at DENSO?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from DENSO, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
