INTRODUCTION
Diamond Foundry Inc. is solving the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless. We have managed to produce the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are now on a mission to put a diamond behind every chip. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast and profitably. We received $515m in funding and are executing a multi-$B expansion plan for one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.
Diamond Foundry is seeking a Principal Laser Process Engineer to oversee the deployment and optimization of high-power laser machines across our various facilities. You will coordinate the development of new ablative processes by working with cross-functional teams of mechanical, electrical, automation, optical, software, and systems engineers to improve and deploy these technologies company-wide. In addition to performing hands-on experiments and developing cutting-edge processes, you’ll be helping mentor team members in performing rigorous, well-designed experiments and making fact-based decisions.
Responsibilities
- Optimize high-power ablative laser processes to deliver micron-precision dimensional modification of diamond at high yields and throughput.
- As a principal engineer, you will not only perform hands-on experiments but also mentor team members in using lab and production equipment to generate data-driven process improvements.
- Lead key projects focused on equipment and automation improvements to support scalable manufacturing.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, overseeing laser and related processes while optimizing process controls and data collection to drive continuous improvement.
- Revolutionize high-power ablative systems to create world-leading throughput and precision performance.
REQUIREMENTS
- Advanced degree in Materials Science, Applied Physics (materials, laser, or optics focus), or Engineering with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Expertise with applying optical fundamentals, laser materials processing, and resolving technical problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in rigorous experimentation, documentation, and data-driven process improvements.
- Experience with mass production of diamond, semiconductors, and/or ceramics is a plus.
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 a year
The position is eligible for company shares. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s job duties, experience, and expertise. We will also consider higher level candidates and salary will be adjusted accordingly.

Align your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility at Diamond Foundry depends entirely on whether your occupation appears on the USMCA professions list. Cross-reference your actual job title against that list before applying, because Diamond Foundry can't support TN admission for roles that fall outside it.
Target engineering and materials science roles
Diamond Foundry's manufacturing operations center on advanced materials and semiconductor-grade diamond production. Roles in materials engineering, chemical engineering, and applied sciences align most directly with the company's technical hiring needs and the USMCA profession categories they issue offer letters for.
Verify your degree field matches the role
USCIS and border officers evaluate whether your degree field is directly related to the offered position, not just whether you hold a degree. For Diamond Foundry's technical roles, a degree in engineering or physical sciences is typically required, not a general STEM credential.
Confirm Diamond Foundry's TN history on Migrate Mate
Before reaching out to recruiters, search Diamond Foundry on Migrate Mate to review its visa sponsorship history and open roles filtered for TN-eligible candidates. This helps you target teams that have actively supported TN admissions rather than applying broadly.
Request an offer letter that names your USMCA profession
When Diamond Foundry extends an offer, ask that the offer letter explicitly names your USMCA profession category and describes how your duties match it. Border officers and consular officials use that description to approve or deny your TN admission, so vague job titles create real risk.
Prepare documentation for port-of-entry inspection
Canadian nationals present their TN documents directly at a U.S. port of entry, not through a prior USCIS filing. Bring your Diamond Foundry offer letter, degree transcripts, and any professional credentials together in one organized package so the inspection proceeds without delays.
Diamond Foundry TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Diamond Foundry sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Diamond Foundry supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals by issuing offer letters for qualifying roles. TN is a treaty-based status under USMCA, so there's no USCIS petition involved. Diamond Foundry's responsibility is to provide documentation confirming the role and your USMCA profession category. You present that at the border or U.S. consulate.
Which roles at Diamond Foundry typically qualify for TN status?
Roles in materials engineering, chemical engineering, and applied sciences are the strongest fit given Diamond Foundry's focus on advanced manufacturing and diamond production. The position must correspond to an approved USMCA profession category, so generalist or operations roles without a direct degree requirement are unlikely to qualify for TN admission.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Diamond Foundry offer?
Once Diamond Foundry issues your offer letter, Canadian nationals can proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with their supporting documents. Mexican nationals must schedule a consular appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. In both cases, you'll need the offer letter, proof of citizenship, and credentials demonstrating your USMCA profession qualification.
How long does TN admission take for Diamond Foundry candidates?
Canadian nationals typically receive a decision at the port of entry the same day they present their documents. Mexican nationals must complete a consular interview, which adds scheduling time that varies by location and demand. Neither path involves USCIS processing times, so TN admission is generally faster than petition-based visas like H-1B visa.
How do I find open TN-eligible roles at Diamond Foundry?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa sponsorship history, so you can search Diamond Foundry specifically and surface roles where TN admission has been supported. Cross-reference any role you find against the USMCA professions list and use O*NET to confirm that your occupation code and duties align before submitting your application.
How does TN visa admission work at Diamond Foundry?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Diamond Foundry, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
