Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility at DLA Piper depends entirely on whether your occupation appears on the USMCA professions list. Legal professionals, accountants, economists, and management consultants are among the roles that commonly qualify. Verify your job title maps to a listed profession before applying.
Target business and operations roles strategically
DLA Piper's non-attorney hires in finance, HR, IT, and consulting support frequently align with TN-eligible professions. Search for roles in those departments specifically, since TN admission works smoothly when your degree field and job duties match the USMCA profession definition precisely.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Your TN admission at the border or consulate depends on DLA Piper's offer letter, not a USCIS petition. Ask your recruiter explicitly for a letter that states your profession, degree requirement, job duties, salary, and employment duration. Border officers assess TN eligibility from that document alone.
Prepare your degree credentials for scrutiny
CBP officers at the port of entry verify that your degree aligns with the profession listed on your offer letter. If your degree title differs from the USMCA profession name, bring a credential evaluation or transcript that clearly demonstrates the field match before your border or consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate to find DLA Piper TN openings
Migrate Mate surfaces employer-verified TN job listings filtered by visa type, so you can identify active DLA Piper openings where TN admission is already supported. Filtering by visa type before applying saves time and avoids outreach to positions where TN eligibility hasn't been confirmed.
Confirm your admission period matches your contract
TN status is granted for up to three years per entry. If DLA Piper's offer letter specifies a shorter project term, CBP may grant a shorter period. Ask your hiring contact to draft the letter with the full intended employment duration to avoid a mismatch at the port of entry.
DLA Piper TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does DLA Piper sponsor TN visas?
DLA Piper supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for Canadian and Mexican nationals in USMCA-eligible roles. Because TN is treaty-based admission rather than an employer petition, DLA Piper doesn't file paperwork with USCIS. You present the offer letter at a U.S. port of entry or consulate, and CBP or a consular officer adjudicates your TN status directly.
Which roles at DLA Piper typically qualify for TN admission?
DLA Piper hires TN professionals across legal, finance, technology, and operations functions. Roles such as accountant, economist, management consultant, computer systems analyst, and certain scientific or engineering positions commonly align with USMCA professions. Attorney positions may qualify under the lawyer profession category if you hold the required credentials. Your specific job title and degree must map directly to a listed USMCA profession.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a DLA Piper offer?
Once DLA Piper extends an offer, ask your HR contact for a detailed support letter confirming your profession, duties, degree requirement, salary, and intended employment period. Canadian nationals then present that letter directly at a U.S. port of entry without a prior visa appointment. Mexican nationals schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate to receive a TN visa stamp before traveling.
How long does TN admission at DLA Piper typically take?
Canadian nationals admitted at the port of entry typically receive a decision the same day. Mexican nationals must factor in consular appointment wait times, which vary by location and season. Once you have DLA Piper's offer letter ready, Migrate Mate can help you identify whether the role and profession classification are properly positioned before you schedule your appointment.
Can I renew TN status while working at DLA Piper?
TN status can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a valid job offer and continue to meet USMCA profession requirements. Canadians can renew by re-entering at a port of entry with an updated offer letter from DLA Piper. Mexicans renew through a consular appointment. There's no cap on the number of TN renewals, but each renewal is adjudicated independently based on your current role and credentials.
How does TN visa admission work at DLA Piper?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from DLA Piper, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
