Map your role to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed in the USMCA professions annex. Before applying to Joby Aviation, confirm your engineering or science title maps to a qualifying category. Cross-reference your job description against O*NET to verify the occupational classification holds up at the border.
Tailor credentials for aerospace engineering roles
Joby's engineering teams focus on propulsion, avionics, and airframe systems for electric aircraft. Your degree must align specifically with the advertised discipline, not just engineering broadly. A diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering paired with aerospace-relevant coursework strengthens your TN eligibility documentation considerably.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Joby Aviation's offer letter is your primary TN document at the port of entry or consulate. Ask HR to specify your USMCA profession category, intended employment duration, and your professional credentials. Vague or generic letters are the leading reason Customs and Border Protection officers ask follow-up questions.
Use Migrate Mate to find Joby's active TN roles
Not all of Joby Aviation's open positions are TN-eligible, and job boards rarely flag visa type. Migrate Mate filters roles by TN-compatible occupations and employer history, so you're targeting positions where TN admission is actually viable before investing time in the application process.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as a Canadian
Canadian nationals don't need a consular appointment, you present your documents directly to CBP at a land border or U.S. airport. Officers may ask technical questions about Joby's work and your specific duties. Bring your degree transcripts, your offer letter, and a one-page summary of how your role qualifies under USMCA.
Schedule your Mexican consular appointment strategically
Mexican nationals must obtain TN status at a U.S. consulate before entry. Appointment availability varies significantly by location and season. Apply for your DS-160 and book your appointment as soon as Joby issues your offer letter, consulate wait times can delay your start date by several weeks.
Joby Aviation TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Joby Aviation sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Joby Aviation supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. The company issues offer letters for eligible engineering and technical roles. TN is not a petition, Joby doesn't file anything with USCIS. You present Joby's offer letter at the U.S. port of entry or consulate to obtain TN status.
Which roles at Joby Aviation typically qualify for TN admission?
Joby's TN-eligible roles are concentrated in engineering disciplines, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, and software engineering are the most common fits under the USMCA professions list. Scientific research and systems analysis roles may also qualify depending on your credentials. General business or operations roles are less likely to meet the USMCA occupational requirements.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Joby Aviation offer?
Once Joby issues your offer letter, confirm it specifies your USMCA profession category and employment terms. Canadians proceed directly to CBP at a port of entry with the letter, degree credentials, and passport. Mexican nationals complete a DS-160, pay the visa fee, and attend a consular interview. USCIS is not involved in either pathway.
How long does TN admission take at Joby Aviation?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission can happen the same day at the port of entry if your documents are in order. Mexican nationals should expect a consular appointment plus processing time that can range from a few days to several weeks depending on location. Build buffer time into your start-date negotiations with Joby's HR team.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Joby Aviation?
Joby Aviation posts roles across engineering, research, and technical operations, but not all positions qualify under USMCA. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with TN-compatible hiring history and filters roles by occupation type, so you can focus your search on positions where your credentials and the USMCA professions list actually align before applying.
How does TN visa admission work at Joby Aviation?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Joby Aviation, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
