Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission requires your role to appear on the USMCA professions list, so confirm your occupation code using O*NET before applying to Kiewit. Energy sector roles like civil, mechanical, or electrical engineer qualify directly, but generalist titles often don't map cleanly.
Target Kiewit's project-based engineering teams
Kiewit structures hiring around active construction and energy projects, so roles open and close quickly. Prioritize applications tied to announced infrastructure or power generation contracts, where TN-eligible engineering and technical positions are most likely to appear and move through the offer process fastest.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Your TN admission depends entirely on the offer letter Kiewit issues, not a government petition. Ask HR explicitly for a letter that states your USMCA profession category, your specific duties, your employment period, and that the role requires your professional credentials, all of which border officers scrutinize closely.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search
Kiewit's energy roles are geographically distributed across project sites, and prevailing wages vary significantly by location. Look up your occupation and worksite using OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer, so you enter salary discussions knowing what the market rate is for that specific location and role level.
Use Migrate Mate to find Kiewit TN openings
Searching broad job boards surfaces roles without any visibility into which employers actually support TN candidates. Migrate Mate filters for employers with confirmed TN hiring history, so you can focus your applications on Kiewit positions where the team already understands how TN admission works.
Prepare for border admission as a Canadian national
Canadian TN applicants present credentials directly at a U.S. port of entry, so bring your Kiewit offer letter, degree transcripts, and professional license documentation in hard copy. Officers can ask detailed questions about your role's duties, and incomplete documentation is one of the most common reasons for delays at the border.
Kiewit Corporation TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kiewit Corporation sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Kiewit Corporation supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering and related disciplines within its energy and infrastructure business lines. Kiewit issues the required offer letter; the candidate presents it at the U.S. border or consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved, and Kiewit's HR teams are familiar with this process.
Which roles at Kiewit Corporation typically qualify for TN admission?
Engineering roles are the most common TN-eligible positions at Kiewit in the energy sector, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers. Project management professionals, geologists, and certain technical specialists also appear on the USMCA professions list. Roles that don't require a specific professional degree, such as general construction supervision, typically don't qualify for TN status.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Kiewit offer?
Once Kiewit extends an offer, ask HR to issue a detailed support letter confirming your USMCA profession category, job duties, required credentials, and employment period. Canadian nationals take this letter directly to a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate abroad. USCIS provides guidance on the documentation standards expected at admission.
How long does TN admission typically take for Kiewit candidates?
Canadian nationals presenting at a U.S. port of entry can receive TN admission the same day if their documentation is complete. Mexican nationals applying through a U.S. consulate face standard consular wait times, which vary by location and appointment availability. TN status is granted in two-year increments and can be renewed without a cap on the number of extensions.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Kiewit Corporation?
Migrate Mate surfaces Kiewit job listings filtered by TN sponsorship history, making it easier to identify roles where the hiring team already understands TN admission requirements. Focus on engineering and project-based roles tied to active energy contracts, and confirm your specific occupation appears on the USMCA professions list before applying to avoid misalignment late in the process.
How does TN visa admission work at Kiewit Corporation?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Kiewit Corporation, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
