Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission at a law firm like Morrison Foerster requires your role to appear on the USMCA professions list. Cross-reference your job title against that list before applying, because roles like legal assistant or general administrator won't qualify regardless of your experience level.
Target roles with clear degree requirements
Morrison Foerster's TN-eligible hires tend to sit in practice support, finance, or technology functions where a specific degree field is easily documented. Roles requiring a bachelor's in accounting, computer science, or management are far easier to defend at the border than hybrid or generalist positions.
Request a TN-specific offer letter early
Ask the recruiter explicitly whether Morrison Foerster will issue a TN support letter during the offer stage, not after you've signed. The letter must state your professional category, duties, and intended duration, so confirming its contents before you travel prevents costly delays at the port of entry.
Prepare credential documentation for border presentation
Canadian nationals present their TN package directly at a U.S. port of entry, so your transcripts, degree certificates, and the Morrison Foerster offer letter must be originals or certified copies. CBP officers at busy crossings like Peace Bridge or Blaine process these quickly when documentation is clean and organized.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm Morrison Foerster's sponsorship history
Before applying, verify that Morrison Foerster actively supports TN professionals in roles matching your background. Migrate Mate surfaces employer-level work authorization data so you can confirm the firm's hiring patterns for your profession before investing time in the application process.
Understand the three-year admission and renewal cycle
TN status is granted for up to three years at initial admission and is renewable indefinitely in three-year increments, provided Morrison Foerster continues employing you in a qualifying role. If your position changes significantly, your TN classification may need to be reclassified at your next renewal or border crossing.
Morrison Foerster TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Morrison Foerster sponsor TN visas?
Yes, Morrison Foerster supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals hired into USMCA-eligible roles. The firm issues offer letters that TN candidates present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved, so the process depends entirely on the offer letter and the candidate's own documentation.
Which roles at Morrison Foerster typically qualify for TN admission?
TN-eligible roles at Morrison Foerster most commonly fall within practice support, financial operations, and technology functions, where the position maps cleanly to a named USMCA profession such as accountant, management consultant, or computer systems analyst. Legal practice roles requiring a law degree may qualify under the lawyer category for candidates licensed in Canada or Mexico.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Morrison Foerster offer?
Once you have a written offer, request a formal TN support letter from Morrison Foerster's HR or legal team. Canadian nationals take that letter directly to a U.S. port of entry alongside degree credentials and the CBP I-94 fee. Mexican nationals schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate and present the same documentation there.
How long does TN admission take at Morrison Foerster?
Canadian nationals who present complete documentation at a port of entry typically receive a decision the same day. Mexican nationals must factor in consular appointment wait times, which vary by location and season. Once admitted, TN status is valid for up to three years and can be renewed without a cap on the number of renewals.
How do I find open TN roles at Morrison Foerster?
Search Morrison Foerster's careers page directly and filter for roles in finance, technology, or practice services that align with USMCA professions. Migrate Mate also surfaces Morrison Foerster listings alongside employer sponsorship context, helping you identify which open positions are realistic targets for TN candidates before you apply.
How does TN visa admission work at Morrison Foerster?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Morrison Foerster, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
