Match your occupation to USMCA categories
PACCAR can only support TN admission for roles on the USMCA professions list. Before applying, verify your job title maps to a qualifying category like engineer, computer systems analyst, or scientist using O*NET to confirm the occupational definition aligns with your actual duties.
Target PACCAR's engineering and technical teams
PACCAR's manufacturing and truck-development divisions regularly hire mechanical, industrial, and electrical engineers under TN. Focus your search on these departments at Kenworth, Peterbilt, and PACCAR Parts, where USMCA-eligible technical roles are most concentrated and TN support is most familiar to HR.
Prepare a detailed offer letter before the border
Your TN admission depends entirely on the offer letter PACCAR provides. Request that it explicitly states your USMCA profession category, your prearranged full-time employment status, your specific job duties, and your intended work location, since border officers assess eligibility from this document alone.
Verify your degree field matches the role
PACCAR's hiring managers and border officers both scrutinize whether your degree directly relates to the offered position. A mechanical engineering degree supporting a product development role is straightforward; a business degree applying for an engineering analyst role is not, and will likely draw additional questioning.
Search PACCAR's TN hiring history on Migrate Mate
Before reaching out to PACCAR recruiters, search Migrate Mate to review which roles and departments the company has historically supported for TN and other work visas. This lets you tailor your application to functions where TN candidates have already succeeded at PACCAR.
Request a defined TN period in your offer
TN status is granted in increments tied to your employment duration. Ask PACCAR's HR team to specify a three-year employment period in the offer letter rather than an open-ended arrangement, since USCIS and CBP officers look for a clearly defined, non-permanent U.S. employment intention.
PACCAR TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does PACCAR sponsor TN visas?
Yes, PACCAR supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. The company issues offer letters for eligible roles, particularly in engineering and technical disciplines across its manufacturing and product development operations. PACCAR does not file a petition; you present the offer letter at a port of entry or U.S. consulate.
Which roles at PACCAR typically qualify for TN status?
PACCAR's strongest TN hiring is concentrated in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, and computer systems analysis. These occupations align directly with the USMCA professions list and match PACCAR's core business in commercial truck design and manufacturing. Scientific and management consulting roles in corporate functions may also qualify depending on your specific credentials.
How do I start the TN process with PACCAR after receiving a job offer?
Once PACCAR extends an offer, work with their HR or immigration contact to obtain a formal offer letter specifying your USMCA profession, duties, and employment period. Canadian citizens present this letter at a land port of entry or pre-clearance location without advance USCIS filing. Mexican nationals schedule a visa appointment at a U.S. consulate. Migrate Mate can help you review your documents before travel.
How long does TN admission take for PACCAR candidates?
Canadian citizens with a complete offer letter can receive TN admission at the border in a single visit, often within a few hours. Mexican nationals follow a consular process that typically takes several weeks depending on appointment availability at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Neither pathway involves USCIS petition processing times.
What should I bring to the border or consulate when seeking TN status for PACCAR?
Bring PACCAR's original offer letter, proof of your qualifying degree or credentials in the relevant USMCA profession, your valid passport, and any prior I-94 records if you have previously held TN or other U.S. status. Mexican nationals also need a valid TN visa stamp obtained at the consulate before traveling to the U.S.
How does TN visa admission work at PACCAR?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from PACCAR, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
