Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission at RailWorks requires your role to appear on the USMCA professions list. Cross-reference your engineering or management title against the list before applying. A mismatch between your credentials and the listed profession is the most common TN rejection trigger.
Target project-based engineering and technical roles
RailWorks staffs heavily around rail infrastructure projects, meaning roles in civil engineering, electrical engineering, and industrial management cycle with project pipelines. Apply when RailWorks is actively bidding or expanding a regional corridor, as TN-eligible openings cluster around those phases.
Request an offer letter that names your USMCA profession
RailWorks issues a support letter for TN candidates, not a USCIS petition. The letter must name your specific USMCA profession category, your duties, and your proposed employment period. A vague letter causes delays at the port of entry, so ask HR to confirm these three elements explicitly.
Verify your wage against the OFLC Wage Search
Although TN has no Labor Condition Application requirement, your offered salary should meet the prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer against DOL wage levels before your border or consulate appointment to avoid negotiating from a weak position.
Use Migrate Mate to find RailWorks TN openings
Migrate Mate surfaces roles at employers with documented TN hiring history in construction and infrastructure. Search by occupation category to find RailWorks positions aligned with USMCA-eligible professions, so you're targeting openings with a realistic path to TN admission rather than applying broadly.
Prepare your O*NET occupational profile before the interview
Consular officers and CBP inspectors assess whether your actual duties match your claimed USMCA profession. Pull your O*NET occupation profile and map your specific RailWorks responsibilities to the standard tasks listed there. This preparation helps you answer duty-related questions precisely and confidently at your admission appointment.
RailWorks Corporation TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does RailWorks Corporation sponsor TN visas?
Yes, RailWorks Corporation supports TN admission for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals. Rather than filing a USCIS petition, RailWorks issues an offer letter that the candidate presents at a port of entry or U.S. consulate. Eligible roles must fall within the USMCA professions list, which covers several engineering and management categories relevant to rail and infrastructure work.
Which roles at RailWorks Corporation typically qualify for TN admission?
RailWorks most commonly hires TN professionals in civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, and project management disciplines. These roles align with USMCA-listed professions and match RailWorks' core business in rail infrastructure construction and maintenance. Roles that don't require a specific professional degree or that fall outside the USMCA list are unlikely to qualify for TN admission.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a RailWorks offer?
Once RailWorks extends an offer, ask HR to prepare a support letter that specifies your USMCA profession category, job duties, and intended employment period. Canadian citizens present this letter at a U.S. port of entry; Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate and attend a visa interview. There is no USCIS petition or LCA involved in the TN process.
How long does TN admission typically take for RailWorks candidates?
Canadian citizens can receive TN admission at the border on the same day, provided the support letter and credentials are in order. Mexican nationals face a longer timeline due to the consular appointment process, which can range from a few weeks to several months depending on the consulate's availability. USCIS provides current processing context for consular workflows.
How do I find open TN-eligible jobs at RailWorks Corporation?
Migrate Mate lists roles at employers with TN hiring history in construction and infrastructure, making it straightforward to identify RailWorks openings that align with USMCA professions. You can also monitor RailWorks' careers page and filter for engineering and technical positions, then verify each role against the USMCA professions list before applying to confirm TN eligibility.
How does TN visa admission work at RailWorks Corporation?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from RailWorks Corporation, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
