Match your credentials to USMCA professions
Redwood Materials operates in electrochemical engineering and materials science. Before applying, confirm your degree maps to a recognized USMCA profession like engineer, chemist, or computer systems analyst. A mismatch between your credential and the TN category is the most common border rejection trigger.
Target roles in process engineering and R&D
Redwood's manufacturing and recycling operations rely heavily on process engineers, materials scientists, and quality chemists. Filtering your job search to these technical functions gives you the strongest alignment with USMCA-eligible categories and the highest likelihood of receiving a TN support letter.
Request a detailed TN support letter early
Ask your Redwood hiring contact to specify your job duties, degree requirement, USMCA category, and employment duration in the offer letter. CBP officers evaluate these details at the port of entry, and vague letters frequently result in delays or secondary inspection regardless of your qualifications.
Research prevailing wage before salary negotiations
Unlike H-1B visa, TN has no DOL wage obligation, but knowing market rates strengthens your negotiating position. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up wage levels for your occupation and work location in Nevada or Tennessee, where Redwood's main facilities are based.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN roles at Redwood
Search Migrate Mate to surface Redwood Materials job listings filtered for TN-eligible roles. The platform pulls DOL Labor Condition Application data to show which positions align with sponsorship-ready employers, saving you time screening roles that won't support a TN admission request.
Prepare for renewal well before your status expires
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no statutory limit on renewals. Start coordinating with Redwood's HR or legal team at least 60 days before your current period ends. Canadians can renew at the border; Mexicans must schedule a new consular appointment in advance.
Redwood Materials TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Redwood Materials sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Redwood Materials supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering, chemistry, and related technical fields. Rather than filing a petition, Redwood issues a detailed offer letter you present at a port of entry or U.S. consulate. Roles must align with USMCA-recognized professions to qualify.
Which roles at Redwood Materials are typically eligible for TN status?
Redwood's strongest TN-eligible hiring is in process engineering, materials science, electrochemical research, and quality assurance functions tied to its battery recycling and manufacturing operations. Roles in computer systems, environmental science, and industrial engineering may also qualify depending on your degree and the specific job description.
How do I navigate the TN admission process when starting at Redwood Materials?
Once Redwood extends an offer, their team prepares a support letter outlining your role, USMCA category, and degree requirement. Canadian citizens present this at the border and receive TN status on the same day. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate and must schedule an appointment in advance through USCIS-designated channels.
How long does TN admission take when joining Redwood Materials?
Canadians typically complete the process at a port of entry in a few hours on the day of crossing, assuming documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face consular wait times that vary by location and season. Redwood's HR team can guide you on timing, but starting the process at least four to six weeks before your start date is advisable.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Redwood Materials?
Migrate Mate lists Redwood Materials job openings filtered for TN-compatible roles using DOL Labor Condition Application data as a sponsorship signal. You can also monitor Redwood's careers page directly and filter by technical and engineering departments. Confirm TN eligibility with the hiring team before advancing in the interview process.
How does TN visa admission work at Redwood Materials?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Redwood Materials, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
