Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility at Skanska depends on your role falling within the USMCA professions list. Engineering, architecture, and technical roles in construction map most cleanly. Verify your specific occupation against O*NET profiles before applying so you can frame your credentials accurately during hiring.
Target Skanska's project-based engineering teams
Skanska structures much of its hiring around active construction projects, so civil, structural, and mechanical engineers are the professionals most likely to receive TN-compatible offer letters. Filter your job search by project type and region to find roles with the highest alignment to your USMCA profession.
Prepare your credential documentation before the offer stage
Skanska's HR teams need to issue an offer letter that accurately describes your role and its professional nature. Have your degree transcripts, professional licenses, and any translated documents ready in advance so the offer letter drafting process moves without delays on your end.
Search Skanska's TN hiring history on Migrate Mate
Before reaching out or applying, use Migrate Mate to review Skanska's verified TN hiring activity by role and location. Knowing which departments and job titles Skanska has historically supported helps you target the right openings and frame your application more effectively.
Clarify your border or consulate path with HR early
Canadian citizens present their offer letter directly at a port of entry, while Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment. Confirm which process applies to you during the offer negotiation stage so Skanska's HR team prepares documentation appropriate for your admission pathway.
Align your offered salary to prevailing wage benchmarks
While TN doesn't require a formal LCA, Skanska's offer letter should reflect wages consistent with local construction industry norms. Check the OFLC Wage Search for your job title and region beforehand so you can negotiate from an informed position and avoid offers that may raise scrutiny at the border.
Skanska TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Skanska sponsor TN visas?
Skanska supports TN admission for eligible Canadian and Mexican professionals by issuing offer letters that describe the qualifying role and its professional nature. TN is treaty-based admission under USMCA, so there's no USCIS petition involved. Skanska provides the documentation; you present it at the port of entry or consulate to obtain TN status.
Which roles at Skanska typically qualify for TN admission?
Engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, and mechanical, are the most common TN-compatible roles at Skanska given the company's construction and real estate focus. Project management and certain technical specialist positions may also qualify, provided the role maps clearly to a named USMCA profession and requires a relevant post-secondary degree.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Skanska offer?
Once Skanska issues your offer letter, Canadian citizens can proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with the letter, degree credentials, and supporting documents. Mexican citizens need to schedule a U.S. consular appointment instead. Use Migrate Mate to review what Skanska typically includes in its offer letters and how previous TN candidates have structured their documentation packages.
How long does the TN admission process take when working with Skanska?
For Canadian citizens presenting at a land border or airport, TN admission is typically decided the same day. Mexican citizens applying through a consulate should expect a wait that depends on appointment availability at their local U.S. embassy or consulate. Skanska's HR team will usually confirm an expected start date once the offer letter is finalized.
Can Skanska support a TN renewal if I'm already working there?
Yes. TN status is granted in up to three-year increments and can be renewed without a limit on renewals, provided you remain in a qualifying role with a valid offer. Skanska would issue an updated offer letter confirming your continued employment. Renewals can be requested at the border, at a consulate, or through a change of status filing with USCIS.
How does TN visa admission work at Skanska?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Skanska, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
