Map your credentials to USMCA professions
Before applying to The Hartford, confirm your occupation appears on the USMCA TN professions list. Actuaries, accountants, engineers, and computer systems analysts qualify. Roles like general insurance operations or claims adjusting typically don't, so match your job title precisely before pursuing an offer.
Target Hartford's actuarial and analytics teams
The Hartford's property-casualty and group benefits divisions regularly fill actuarial, data science, and financial analyst roles that map cleanly to USMCA categories. Focusing your applications on these departments puts you in front of hiring managers already familiar with TN admission for technical professionals.
Search verified TN-supporting employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles at The Hartford filtered by employers who support TN admission. Seeing which teams are actively hiring TN professionals helps you prioritize applications and avoid wasting time on departments without a pattern of issuing TN offer letters.
Request a detailed offer letter covering all TN requirements
The Hartford's offer letter must state your professional category, prearranged employment, job duties, and anticipated duration. Border officers scrutinize these details closely. Ask your HR contact or recruiter to confirm the letter addresses each element USCIS and CBP expect before you travel.
Prepare credential documentation your profession requires
Actuarial and engineering roles at The Hartford require proof of licensure, exam progress, or a relevant degree. Assemble transcripts, professional designations, and any credential evaluation for non-U.S. degrees before your interview concludes. Delays in gathering these documents can push your start date back significantly.
Understand TN duration and renewal timing at the border
TN status is granted for up to three years and renewed indefinitely, but each renewal happens at a port of entry or consulate, not through USCIS. Coordinate your renewal travel with The Hartford's HR team well before your current status expires to avoid any gap in work authorization.
The Hartford TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does The Hartford sponsor TN visas?
Yes. The Hartford issues TN support letters for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA professions. This is not a petition process; the company provides a detailed offer letter and you present it at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. Roles in actuarial science, finance, and technology are the most common TN-supported positions at the company.
Which departments at The Hartford typically hire TN professionals?
The Hartford's actuarial, data analytics, information technology, and financial analysis teams hire most frequently for roles that map to USMCA profession categories. Group benefits and property-casualty divisions are particularly active. Claims and general operations roles are less likely to qualify because those titles don't appear on the USMCA professions list.
How do I start the TN admission process after receiving a Hartford offer?
Once The Hartford extends a written offer, request a support letter that specifies your USMCA profession category, job duties, employer details, and employment duration. Canadian citizens present this letter at a U.S. land border or airport port of entry. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate for a TN visa stamp before traveling. No USCIS petition is required.
How long does it take to get TN status when starting at The Hartford?
Canadian citizens can often receive TN admission the same day they present at a port of entry, making the timeline very short once the offer letter is ready. Mexican nationals wait for a consular appointment, which varies by location and demand. Migrate Mate can help you identify current timelines and prepare your documentation before you travel.
Can I switch from F-1 OPT to TN status at The Hartford?
Yes, if your role qualifies under USMCA and you are a Canadian or Mexican national. You would need to depart the U.S. and seek TN admission at a port of entry or consulate rather than changing status domestically through USCIS. Coordinate the transition timing carefully with The Hartford's HR team to avoid a gap in work authorization.
How does TN visa admission work at The Hartford?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from The Hartford, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
