Align your credentials with Yale's PMP expectations
Yale Project Manager postings frequently list PMP certification or equivalent alongside a relevant bachelor's degree. If your degree is in a field adjacent to the role, documenting that alignment clearly in your application strengthens both your candidacy and any future H-1B specialty occupation determination.
Target roles tied to grant-funded research programs
Yale's research divisions regularly post Project Manager roles attached to sponsored grants, which often carry dedicated budget lines for immigration costs. These positions tend to have more flexibility on sponsorship than roles in administrative or support functions.
Browse open Yale Project Manager roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Manager openings at Yale by visa type before applying. Identifying which roles align with your sponsorship category upfront saves weeks of back-and-forth after an offer is extended.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before the final interview
Yale's HR and international scholar offices are experienced with immigration filings, but individual hiring managers may not know which roles qualify. Ask HR directly whether the position is approved for H-1B or TN sponsorship during the offer negotiation stage, not after signing.
Request a prevailing wage determination early in negotiations
For H-1B and PERM filings, DOL requires Yale to pay at least the prevailing wage for the Project Manager role in New Haven. Reviewing the DOL's Foreign Labor Certification Data Center wage tables before salary discussions helps you enter negotiations with realistic expectations.

Find Project Manager at Yale University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Yale University sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Yale University sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles that qualify as specialty occupations, meaning the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles tied to IT systems, research operations, or clinical programs tend to meet this threshold more consistently than general administrative project management positions.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Yale University?
Applications go through Yale's official careers portal at yale.edu/careers. Each posting specifies the department and funding source, which can signal sponsorship likelihood. Tailor your resume to reflect scope of work, budget oversight, and cross-functional coordination, as Yale's Project Manager roles span research, facilities, IT, and academic administration with distinct requirements per department.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Manager roles at Yale University?
Yale sponsors H-1B visas for most professional Project Manager roles and supports TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management and engineering functions. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for students completing degree programs with a project management focus. For long-term hires, Yale has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Yale University expect for Project Manager roles?
Most Yale Project Manager postings require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as public health, engineering, information technology, or business, along with demonstrable experience managing multi-phase projects and cross-departmental stakeholders. PMP certification strengthens applications significantly. Senior roles typically expect experience with grant-funded environments, compliance reporting, or academic research workflows specific to university operations.
How do I find Project Manager roles at Yale that are open to visa sponsorship?
Not every Yale Project Manager posting explicitly states sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate aggregates Yale's open Project Manager roles and filters by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify which positions align with your work authorization category before investing time in a full application. This is particularly useful if you're on a time-sensitive visa status like OPT.
