INTRODUCTION
The Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Programs takes a leadership role in creating an environment where academic/curricular pursuits are supported, innovated and celebrated, facilitating shared governance and open discourse, and cultivating mutual trust and respect among faculty, staff, and students to prepare future leaders that will elevate our professional disciplines. The position is essential in realizing the goals of our strategic planning efforts and elevating our contributions to the university’s foundational pillars and strategic priorities and evolving Bold Path Forward strategic framework. This role is integral to advancing: Our Mission to create a resilient, healthy, and beautiful world, within a diverse and inclusive culture of rigorous inquiry and innovation, unified by the transformative power of planning and design.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific areas of responsibility include:

Strategic Leadership: Promote a culture of innovation and collaboration, celebrating diverse perspectives and emphasizing interdisciplinary pedagogy aligned with our core values: Demand Excellence, Be Courageous, Practice Empathy, Look Beyond, and Inspire Impact. Collaborate with Dean and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, Accredited Degree Program Leads and Staff to track and report on UNL unit-level metrics and key performance indicators, and CoA Operational Strategic Initiatives (OSIs) related to Odyssey to Extraordinary reporting in VisionSync. Support Leads and Accredited Degree Program Committees on priorities/strategic vision.

Faculty Evaluation, Mentorship and Support: With the Dean, participate in and facilitate faculty evaluations, reappointment procedures, and tenure and promotion processes according to CoA and UNL Guidelines. Provide mentorship to faculty in curricular and academic pursuits. Deliver on-boarding program for new faculty and mentorship/support as needed. Develop leadership and practical training program for Academic Degree Program Leads. Liaison with EVC Faculty Affairs and DEOs group, including participation in the Faculty Affairs College Liaisons group.

Curricular/Academic Development: Support development of new degrees, minors, certificates, and other credentialing education. Support assessment, including the Biennial Undergraduate Program Assessment, ACE course assessments, program/degree accreditation assessment, HLC accreditation processes and all program compliance requirements. Education abroad coordination, including providing UGEP 250 in support of ACE 9 and college study abroad experiences. Coordination of course offerings, including summer and winter term course offerings, online education opportunities, and Honors program coordination. Support Academic Degree Program Leads in curricular development and degree program accreditation. With input from Leads and in collaboration with the Dean, assign faculty teaching and committee responsibilities and identifying and contracting with Lecturer/T as needed.

Committees and Engagement: Liaison to University groups such as the Academic Solutions Council, UAC (University-wide Assessment Committee), Academic Technology Committee, University Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and others as needed. Participate in college leadership meetings via College Executive Committee and serve as the dean’s representative on the College of Architecture Curricular and Student Affairs Committee and as an ex-officio member of the College Faculty Affairs Committee.

Policies and Procedures: In collaboration with the college faculty, develop, maintain and update the college bylaws, committee structure and voting procedures. Support Dean in matters of faculty personnel and student conduct matters.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Rank of Professor within the UNL College of Architecture.
- Experience in academic leadership, with a demonstrated commitment to shared governance, consensus building, and promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment for faculty, staff, and students.
