Position Summary:
The Cloud FinOps Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing frameworks, processes, and tools that optimize cloud financial management, ensuring that cloud resources deliver maximum business value for their cost. The role bridges the gap between finance, operations, and engineering, embedding financial accountability into cloud operations through automation, data-driven insights, and governance. This position proactively identifies and resolves discrepancies or issues related to cloud expenses and cost optimization.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Five (5) years of experience in cloud infrastructure, automation frameworks and/or best practices.
- Five (5) years of experience in IT infrastructure and infrastructure operations.
- Three (3) years of experience in Azure cloud financial management, cost optimization, billing models and reporting tools.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner, or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred:
- Prior experience within a healthcare organization IT department.
Essential Job Functions:
In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive FinOps strategy for Azure cloud operations.
- Predict future cloud service expenses based on usage trends and organizational goals.
- Continuously monitor and analyze cloud costs to identify areas for optimization and savings.
- Partner with technical teams to manage cloud costs and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Create and maintain reports detailing cloud spending, usage, and optimization opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with cloud service providers to negotiate favorable pricing and terms.
- Research and apply industry trends and best practices in cloud financial management.
- Perform administrative tasks including managing purchase orders and preparing budgetary information.
- Provide on-call support on rotating schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule Requirements
- This role requires regular and sustained attendance.
- The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
- On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.

- Exposures (Rarely): Bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed. Various chemicals and medications are used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances. Infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses.
