WVU Parkersburg is a Community and Technical College located in Parkersburg, WV along with Jackson County Center in Ripley, WV and Innovation Technology Center in Vienna, WV. Employment Status

Exempt employees are paid on a salary basis and are not eligible for overtime compensation. They are expected to fulfill the full scope of their job responsibilities regardless of the number of hours worked.
WVU Parkersburg employees in exempt managerial positions are expected to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to fulfill the basic requirements of their role. In practice, the responsibilities and leadership duties associated with these positions typically require more than 37.5 hours per week. Because these positions are exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), work expectations are not defined by a maximum number of hours, but rather by the scope of authority, level of responsibility, and operational needs associated with the position.
Exempt employees are entrusted to exercise professional judgment in managing their time to ensure institutional goals are achieved and leadership expectations are met.

Function/Summary
The Director of Student Life and Recruitment provides operational leadership for student recruitment, campus life, and co-curricular engagement at WVU Parkersburg. Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the position coordinates recruitment operations, campus visits, orientation, student ambassadors, student organizations, and engagement initiatives that support enrollment growth, retention, belonging, and student success.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, communications, marketing, education, leadership, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, student affairs, campus programming, event management, or related student-facing operations required. Supervisory or lead-worker experience preferred. Evening and occasional weekend work is required to support recruitment, student life, and institutional events.

- Knowledge of recruitment strategy, enrollment operations, student engagement practices, and co-curricular learning in higher education.
- Ability to use CRM systems, engagement data, and enrollment information to assess effectiveness, track participation, and inform decision-making.
- Event and project management skills, including planning, logistics, budgeting, purchasing, vendor coordination, contracts, staffing, and risk management.
- Ability to supervise professional staff, student workers, student ambassadors, tour guides, and student organization leaders or advisors.
Duties/Responsibilities
35% Recruitment and Enrollment Outreach
- Direct recruitment operations, student outreach, and campus visit experiences across all campus locations.
- Coordinate recruitment events, including open houses, accepted student days, tours, fairs, and high school visits.
- Develop recruitment initiatives aligned with enrollment goals and partner with Marketing and Communications on messaging.
- Build and maintain outreach relationships with schools, career and technical centers, homeschool communities, community organizations, and workforce partners.
- Support enrollment pipeline initiatives, including Early College, Teen Academies, What’s Your Thing?, Riverhawk Ready, and workforce pathway programming.
30% Student Life, Engagement, and Belonging
- Develop and oversee student life programming that supports commuter, residential, adult, dual-enrolled, and traditional students.
- Plan campus activities, traditions, orientation experiences, leadership programs, wellness initiatives, cultural programming and service opportunities.
- Coordinate student engagement across campus locations, including the main campus, Innovation and Technology Center, Jackson County Center, Riverhawk Farm and student housing.
- Serve as advisor and administrative lead for the Student Government Association and provide oversight for student clubs and organizations.
- Maintain DSO certification, serve as lead DSO for the college, and oversee related residency documentation.
30% Operations, Supervision and Strategic Coordination
- Supervise assigned recruitment and student life staff, student workers, student ambassadors, and tour guides.
- Manage operational planning for events and programs, including schedules, logistics, staffing, vendors, purchasing, contracts and risk management.
- Manage departmental budgets and maintain records related to recruitment, events, student organizations, and engagement assessment.
- Use CRM, enrollment, and engagement data to evaluate participation, recruitment effectiveness, and program outcomes.
- Collaborate with Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Career Services, Institutional Advancement, and community partners on enrollment, retention, and student success initiatives.
