Electrical Project Manager Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical project manager job in Chicago?
Focus on Chicago's dense commercial construction pipeline, which runs through the Loop, River North, and Fulton Market, along with the city's industrial facilities in the West and Southwest Side corridors. General contractors, electrical subcontractors, and facilities management firms are the most active local employers. Candidates with ground-up commercial or industrial project experience and familiarity with Chicago's local union environment tend to stand out in interviews here.
Which companies hire electrical project managers in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring electrical project managers in Chicago include Rush University Medical Center, ALIYA Healthcare, and Amazon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The local market is anchored by large electrical contractors, general construction firms, and property management companies overseeing Chicago's extensive commercial and mixed-use building stock.
Are there remote electrical project manager jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though with limits: electrical project manager work is largely site-dependent, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 21% of electrical project manager openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to involve pre-construction planning, estimating, or program oversight rather than active site management.
How can I get an electrical project manager job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is moving up from an electrical foreman or field supervisor role with a local contractor, where on-the-ground Chicago project exposure is valued over a formal PM title. Mid-size electrical subcontractors and facilities operations teams at Chicago's large institutions, including hospitals, universities, and transit authorities, regularly hire assistant or junior project managers to develop into full PM roles.
Which industries hire the most electrical project managers in Chicago?
The sectors hiring the most electrical project managers in Chicago are Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's sustained commercial development activity, large healthcare campus expansions, and ongoing infrastructure investment across the city's transit and utility systems all drive consistent local demand for this role.
