The Director, EPMO – Wealth Management is an enterprise leader who leads a portfolio of complex programs and projects in the Wealth Management business, acting as a strategic partner to business, technology, operations, finance and compliance leaders as well as a delivery manager that is responsible for managing and delivering the expected outcomes of the business initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring alignment between enterprise strategy, investment, and execution while driving disciplined delivery, transparency, and measurable business outcomes across the portfolio. This role requires a well-seasoned program and/or portfolio management and people leader with a strong enterprise mindset, executive presence, and the ability to lead through influence in a fast-paced, highly matrixed, and regulated environment. Success in this position demands the ability to oversee multiple complex projects, engage senior leaders to shape priorities, resolve tradeoffs, and remove barriers, and develop high-performing teams of program and project managers that deliver predictable outcomes in the face of ambiguity and evolving enterprise needs.
Program & Project Management
- Develop and maintain a product delivery roadmap and drive the execution of Wealth Management business initiatives in conjunction with business, product, and technology leaders. Follow enterprise and/or bring leading project management framework, processes and discipline.
- Proactively manage portfolio-level risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and financials, identifying systemic trends and driving timely resolution and alignment at the appropriate leadership level.
- Develop and deliver executive level communications, including portfolio health views, risk narratives, dependency analyses, investment tradeoffs, and outcome reporting.
- Partner with legal, risk and compliance (LRC) stakeholders to ensure compliance, transparency, and effective escalation.
- Direct the coordination and management of program and project manager resources and allocations based on skills match and evolving needs of the portfolio.
Digital Platform Implementations & Process Optimization
- Lead the deployment and ongoing enhancement of Wealthpath, Voya’s wealth management platform for advisors, collaborating with technology teams, vendors, and business stakeholders. Ensure seamless integration of platforms into existing workflows to improve advisor and client experiences.
- Manage change initiatives and stakeholder engagement to maximize adoption and minimize disruption.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and scalability within Wealth Management.
- Leverage data-driven insights to inform decisions and improve project outcomes.
- Align operational improvements with regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
People, Leadership & Strategy
- Partner with senior leaders to align projects with organizational priorities, KPIs, and growth objectives.
- Provides direction and assigns projects to team members that are in alignment with business and technology priorities.
- Foster a team environment and culture that appropriately balances the “art” and “science” of project delivery across various methodologies while building deep bench strength and growth opportunities.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in effectively coaching and mentoring program and project managers across various levels and skills to increase abilities and leadership skills.
- Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives open and honest feedback to aid in the development of talent.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Foster strong partnerships across business units, technology, operations, finance, legal, risk, compliance, and other key functions.
- Serve as a liaison between Leadership and project teams to ensure strategic alignment and timely delivery.
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project portfolios, dashboards, and performance reports for executive visibility.
- Provide actionable insights to adjust strategies, prioritize initiatives, and optimize resource allocation. Ensure accurate and timely communication of progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Financial Stewardship
- Coordinate portfolio-level business case governance (value hypotheses, cost estimates, benefits, risk, sensitivity) with Business and Technology Leads.
- Partner with Finance to manage annual planning, quarterly re-forecasts, and in-year investment trade-offs.
- Track forecast accuracy, and investment health; drive transparency on burn, variance, and funding decisions.
Qualifications
- 10-15+ years in portfolio/program/project management within the wealth management or financial services sectors, with a focus on technology & strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or related field or equivalent work experience required.
- Worked in top-tier Consulting firms with experience managing large and complex transformation initiatives is a plus.
- Demonstrated success implementing portfolio governance, planning cadences, and investment prioritization frameworks.
- Expertise in hybrid delivery models (Agile/Scaled Agile + Waterfall), including release planning, dependency management, and integrated roadmaps.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, balancing business outcomes and technology feasibility.
- Highly collaborative and effective partner; ability to effect change in a matrix managed geographically dispersed environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategic thinking mindset with a strong analytical capability and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
- Experience with portfolio and program management tooling (e.g., Planview, Azure Devops, Power BI) and enterprise governance models.
- Certifications: PMP, PgMP, PfMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe (or equivalent), ITIL a plus.
Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
$170,000 - $185,000
