Description
Every transit project leaves a footprint—this role helps ensure it's a positive one. As the Manager of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability, you will lead environmental planning, compliance, and sustainability efforts that support UTA's mission of connecting communities through safe, innovative, and responsible transportation.
Working at the intersection of environmental stewardship and transit development, you will help guide major capital projects from concept to operation, ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing environmental impacts, and supporting sustainable growth that benefits the communities we serve for years to come.
As the Manager of Environmental Compliance and Sustainability, you will:
- Manage a team of professionals responsible for environmental planning, documentation, sustainability, and compliance for all existing UTA facilities and new projects.
- Oversee environmental requirements and assist project managers with projects from the planning phase through final design, construction, and operation of capital projects, facilities, and assets.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Seven years of environmental and/or planning experience with transportation projects.
- Preferred experience in local planning and regulatory processes, federal and local environmental requirements, federal and local grant processes, federal and local transportation project development processes.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Transportation Planning, Business Administration, or related field of study.
- Master’s degree and professional license preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Thorough and in-depth understanding of all FTA and NEPA regulations and guidelines regarding environmental compliance for large capital projects.
- Basic proficiency in MS Word, and Excel.
- Coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of staff planners, engineers, administrators, and consultants.
- Communicate and interact with the public and internal stakeholders regarding potentially sensitive issues.
- Understand or predict the interests of government agencies and municipalities with respect to environmental studies.

Pay Rate: $102,300.00 or more, depending on experience
