Finance Associate Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance associate job in Chicago?
Target the Loop and River North, where Chicago's largest banks, insurance firms, and asset managers concentrate their finance teams. Private equity and middle-market investment firms in the West Loop also hire steadily at the associate level. A background in financial modeling, Excel, and either CFA candidacy or an MBA from a Chicago-area program gives you a real edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire finance associates in Chicago?
Chicago finance associate roles are posted by Fitch Ratings, JPMorganChase, and PwC and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Chicago's employer mix runs from global banks and insurance holding companies to mid-size private equity shops and corporate treasury teams at Fortune 500 headquarters.
Are there remote finance associate jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role. Analytical and reporting-focused finance associate positions are more likely to offer flexibility, while roles tied to trading floors, client-facing banking, or physical operations typically require on-site presence. About 91% of finance associate openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at larger Loop-based financial firms.
How can I get a finance associate job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a financial analyst or junior associate role at a mid-size corporate treasury or FP&A team, where the learning curve is steep but hiring managers prioritize potential. Chicago's large insurance carriers and regional banks also run structured rotational programs that move analysts into associate tracks within two years. Completing a Chicago-area CFA prep program or finishing an MBA at DePaul, Loyola, or Booth significantly sharpens your candidacy for these openings.
Which industries hire the most finance associates in Chicago?
Most finance associate openings in Chicago sit in Investment & Asset Management, Banking & Financial Services, and Fintech, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Chicago's role as a global derivatives and futures hub, combined with its concentration of insurance holding companies and private equity firms, keeps demand for finance associates consistently higher than in most comparable U.S. cities.
