Financial Project Manager Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a financial project manager job in Chicago?
Focus your search on the Loop and River North, where Chicago's largest financial institutions, insurance carriers, and professional services firms concentrate their project management hiring. Candidates with PMP certification, experience with capital planning or regulatory reporting initiatives, and familiarity with financial systems implementations tend to stand out. Networking through Chicago-area finance and PMO communities gives an additional edge in a market where referrals move quickly.
Which companies hire financial project managers in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring financial project managers in Chicago include Rush University Medical Center, ALIYA Healthcare, and Amazon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's employer mix skews toward large financial institutions, major insurers, and global professional services firms, all of which maintain dedicated PMO functions and hire financial project managers at multiple seniority levels.
Are there remote financial project manager jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability varies: financial project manager roles that center on stakeholder coordination and reporting lend themselves to remote work, while those tied to on-site system implementations or trading floor operations typically require in-person presence. About 18% of financial project manager openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among large Loop-based employers running multi-year finance transformation programs.
How can I get a financial project manager job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is moving into a financial project coordinator or junior PMO analyst role at one of the city's large insurance companies, regional banks, or corporate finance departments, many of which run structured rotational or associate programs. Earning a CAPM certification and building Excel and project tracking tool skills strengthens early applications. Targeting back-office operations and finance transformation teams in Fulton Market tech-finance firms is also a practical lateral move for candidates coming from adjacent roles.
