Mid Level Information Security Intern Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level information security intern job?
Position yourself by leading with concrete ownership: highlight projects where you drove security reviews, managed vulnerability assessments, or delivered findings with minimal oversight. Tailor your resume to show depth in one or two specializations, such as threat detection or compliance frameworks, rather than broad familiarity. Employers at this level want evidence you can operate independently and communicate risk clearly to stakeholders.
Which companies hire mid level information security interns?
Companies hiring mid level information security interns right now include Raytheon, Apple, and Walmart, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a range of organizations, including technology firms, financial services companies, and government contractors that rely on dedicated security programs and need professionals who can contribute without heavy supervision.
Are there remote mid level information security intern jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are common at this experience level. About 30% of mid level information security intern openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many security workflows, from log analysis to compliance documentation, translate well to distributed teams. Fully on-site roles tend to appear more often in regulated industries such as defense and healthcare.
How do I move up to a mid level information security intern role?
Reaching mid level comes from building hands-on depth over your first few years, moving beyond executing assigned tasks toward owning pieces of a security program. Focus on developing expertise in a core area like incident response, penetration testing, or security operations, and seek out projects where your decisions shape the outcome. Earning a recognized certification and demonstrating measurable impact, such as reduced detection times or remediated vulnerabilities, accelerates the transition.
Which industries hire the most mid level information security interns?
Mid Level information security intern roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Banking & Financial Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they handle sensitive data at scale, face regulatory scrutiny, and need security professionals experienced enough to apply frameworks independently rather than simply following established checklists.
