Responsibilities
- Serve as an engineer on the planning, design, construction and/or commissioning of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Specialize in challenging projects outside of the treatment plant, including: the planning and design of water/wastewater pipelines, pump stations, trenchless pipelines, pipeline seismic retrofits, deep wastewater pump stations and many other diverse projects.
- Work on engineering planning and design projects and perform conceptual and preliminary design activities including site visits, overseeing fieldwork, alternatives analysis, and report preparation.
- Develop civil engineering plans and specifications.
- Prepare cost estimates for various water and wastewater projects.
- Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
- Assist project manager with the planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing of the work of the project team, including: environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/controls engineers; drafters, technicians; technical experts; and subconsultants.
- Assist project manager with meeting budget, schedule, and quality goals.
- Review contractor submittals for conformance with contract plans and specifications and evaluate requests for information as part of engineering services during construction.
- Travel may be required depending on the project assignment but most projects are local.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- 4 to 8 years of directly relevant experience in water and wastewater engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients and project teams.
- Work well in a team environment.
- Highly motivated, articulate, and self-starting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Active in professional associations.
COMPENSATION RANGE
An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
