Job Description:
About Packsize
Packsize is seeking an Instructional Designer to architect and scale structured learning programs for a global manufacturing environment. This role is primarily responsible for designing end-to-end curriculum frameworks, including role-based learning paths, competency models, and certification structures that accelerate technician proficiency and support operational excellence.
About The Role
A key component of this role is the development of blended learning strategies, including On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Web-Based Training (WBT), balancing both hands-on and digital modalities. The ideal candidate combines instructional design expertise with a practical understanding of manufacturing environments, enabling them to translate complex technical processes into structured, measurable learning systems. This role requires strong collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content accuracy, alignment with ISO-driven quality standards, and adherence to safety regulations. Up to 10% travel required.
Curriculum Architecture & Learning Strategy:
- Design and maintain role-based learning paths for manufacturing personnel at varying skill levels.
- Develop competency frameworks and skill matrices aligned to operational needs, quality standards, and career progression.
- Architect blended learning programs that effectively integrate On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Web-Based Training (WBT).
- Define structured OJT frameworks, including task-based qualification checklists, trainer guides, and verification processes.
- Define assessment strategies (knowledge checks, practical evaluations, certification criteria) that measure job readiness and skill mastery across both OJT and WBT modalities.
- Map training programs to ISO standards and internal compliance requirements, ensuring audit readiness.
- Establish scalable frameworks for onboarding, upskilling, and cross-training within production environments.
Content Development:
- Develop, improve, and maintain targeted instructional materials.
- Ensure all learning assets support adult learning principles and are optimized for clarity, retention, and application in production settings.
Collaboration & SME Engagement:
- Partner closely with production engineers, operations leaders, and technical SMEs to capture critical knowledge and validate training outputs.
- Conduct user analysis and iterate based on feedback from both SMEs and end users.
Program Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of OJT and WBT integration, ensuring optimal learning transfer to the production floor.
- Continuously refine curriculum architecture based on performance data, feedback, and operational changes.
- Contribute to the evolution of training standards and best practices within the organization.
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, Technical Training, or related field
- Demonstrated experience building structured curricula, learning paths, and blended learning programs
- Experience designing OJT frameworks and task-based certification models
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and its application to hands-on learning environments
- Proven ability to collaborate with technical SMEs and translate complex information into structured learning solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environments (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with ISO standards and compliance-driven training requirements
- Mechanical aptitude or exposure to technical systems and processes
- Experience designing training for frontline technicians
