Machine Learning Intern Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a machine learning intern job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on Los Angeles's strongest hiring sectors: entertainment technology, aerospace and defense, healthtech, and consumer apps. Playa Vista, Culver City, and the Westside tech corridor have the densest concentration of ML-focused teams. Candidates who can show applied project work, such as a deployed model or a Kaggle competition result, move faster through screening at both large studios and early-stage startups than those with coursework alone.
Which companies hire machine learning interns in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring machine learning interns in Los Angeles include Riot Games, Snap, and SentiLink, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles draws a wide mix of hires, from major entertainment and streaming companies to aerospace primes and venture-backed AI startups concentrated along the Westside.
Are there remote machine learning intern jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though availability depends on role type: analytical and research-focused ML intern positions are more commonly offered remotely, while roles tied to hardware, robotics, or on-site data infrastructure typically require in-person work. About 52% of machine learning intern openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Research and data pipeline tasks are the most frequently remote components at Los Angeles employers.
How can I get a machine learning intern job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is targeting smaller entertainment-tech startups and university-affiliated research labs at UCLA and USC, which routinely take on interns with project portfolios rather than professional experience. Contributing to open-source ML projects or building a public GitHub repository with well-documented models gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate. Many Los Angeles companies also post rotational or research assistant roles that serve as a direct on-ramp to dedicated ML intern positions.
Which industries hire the most machine learning interns in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles machine learning intern roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles's unique combination of a major entertainment industry, a large aerospace and defense base, and a rapidly growing healthtech sector creates demand for ML talent across more verticals than most U.S. cities.
