New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico.
PURPOSE:
Provides specialty medical care to all rehabilitation patients at New Mexico Rehabilitation Center. Will serve as Medical Director which supervises, evaluates, recommends, and provides support to all medical services and programming in the hospital. Provides medical consultation and coordination of care with all departments including external stakeholders. Assists the Hospital Administrator in program development, enhancement and sustainment of services. Follows federal, state, and regulatory bodies rules and regulations that pertain to specialty hospital and rehabilitation. Directs the specialized care to include but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, medication management, maintenance or preventative care, discharge planning, care plans, multidisciplinary team coordination. Maintain safe, effective, quality of care at the hospital. Represents the hospital in community and professional health committee's. Develops positive working relationships with all employee's and departments. Fosters a culture of safety.
Responsibilities:
Perform History and Physicals, Care Plans, Team Conference, daily rounds and patient visits on the MRU unit and assist on CDU unit when needed for coverage purposes. Provide on-call support. Adhere to NMRC and DOH policies and procedures, Joint Commission and CMS regulatory accreditation requirements. Attend and play an active role in all NMRC committees that includes but not limited to Policy Committee, Infection Control, Medical Records and Utilization Review, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, Medical Executive Committee. Review and approve referrals on both units and assist administration in maintaining adequate census on MRU and CDU.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a license to practice medicine in New Mexico and Psychiatrist, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, General Surgery, or Emergency Medicine Board Certification. Must possess an active controlled substance license and DEA registration in New Mexico and six (6) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
This position is designated a safety sensitive. Must successfully complete post offer preemployment criminal records background check is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Employment is subject to preemployment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a rehabilitation hospital setting. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Long periods of walking, sitting, standing, bending and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. Exposure to potentially violent patients in a volatile situation. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime. Some travel may be required.
