The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business combined with a recognized QMS credential such as ASQ's Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Quality Manager. District of Columbia does not issue a state-specific QMS license, but federal contracting employers here commonly require candidates to meet DCMA or DOD quality standards and to be eligible for a federal security clearance, which becomes a practical prerequisite for many roles.
How much do quality management systemses make in District of Columbia?
Quality management systemses in District of Columbia earn a median of about $111,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,140 for the lowest 10% to over $156,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality management systems professionals in District of Columbia?
District of Columbia quality management systems roles are posted by Nuclear, Guidehouse, and Pathways To Housing Dc Dsc and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The district's concentration of federal agencies and their prime contractors means a large share of QMS openings come from defense and IT services firms with long-term government contracts.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most quality management systems jobs?
Washington have the most quality management systems openings in District of Columbia. Washington D.C. dominates because of its density of federal agencies and major contractors, while Arlington and Bethesda attract QMS roles tied to defense contractors and health policy organizations that cluster near the district border.
Are there remote quality management systems jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields, since many QMS roles involve on-site audits, document reviews, and compliance walkthroughs. About 39% of quality management systems openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most of those positions focused on document control, policy writing, and audit report coordination rather than hands-on inspection work.
How can I get hired as a quality management systems professional in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a quality coordinator or document control specialist role, which large federal contractors in the district routinely fill with candidates who hold a relevant degree but lack deep QMS experience. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential before applying gives candidates a measurable edge. Organizations like Leidos and major health systems in the area also bring on junior QMS associates through structured onboarding programs designed for professionals transitioning from adjacent roles in project coordination or regulatory affairs.
