How do I get a quantitative analyst job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's Loop and West Loop, where proprietary trading firms, hedge funds, and asset managers cluster alongside major banks. Chicago's derivatives and futures markets set it apart nationally, so candidates with experience in options pricing, algorithmic trading, or risk modeling carry a clear edge here. Targeting mid-size trading shops alongside the large institutions broadens your options considerably in this city.
Which companies hire quantitative analysts in Chicago?

Chicago's hiring base is unusually deep in proprietary trading firms and futures-focused asset managers, reflecting the city's historic ties to the CME Group and CBOE derivatives exchanges.
Are there remote quantitative analyst jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: model validation and data-driven research positions tend to be more remote-friendly, while execution-focused trading desk roles typically require on-site presence. About 48% of quantitative analyst openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at banks and larger asset managers headquartered in the Loop.
How can I get a quantitative analyst job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is landing a junior quant, quantitative research associate, or risk analyst role at one of the city's mid-size trading firms or regional banks, which hire more actively at the entry level than the large proprietary shops. A master's degree in financial engineering, statistics, or applied mathematics from a Chicago-area program strengthens your candidacy significantly. Internships at CME Group-adjacent firms or fintech companies in River North are a practical foot in the door.
