Job Overview
Phygital Grp
AI Professional – Agents, Automation & Growth Systems
Full-Time · Remote
About the Role
Phygital Grp is hiring a hands-on AI professional to design, build, and ship the AI systems that power our business — from autonomous agents and internal software to CRM automations and marketing/sales tooling. This is a builder role: you'll move from idea to working product, owning projects end to end rather than handing off to someone else.
What You'll Do
- Design and build AI agents that automate real workflows across sales, marketing, and operations
- Develop custom software and internal tools that integrate AI into day-to-day business processes
- Build and maintain CRM automations — lead routing, scoring, follow-ups, and pipeline reporting
- Create AI-powered sales and marketing tools (outreach automation, content generation, lead qualification, personalization at scale)
- Integrate AI models and APIs (LLMs, embeddings, voice, etc.) into existing platforms and workflows
- Prototype quickly, test with real users, and iterate based on what actually moves the needle
- Evaluate and stand up new AI tools, frameworks, and platforms as the space evolves
- Document systems and train team members on new AI-driven workflows
What You Bring
- Proven experience building AI agents or LLM-powered applications (production, not just prototypes)
- Strong software development skills — comfortable owning a build from architecture to deployment
- Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, GoHighLevel, or similar) and building automations within them
- Working knowledge of sales and marketing workflows and how AI can improve conversion, speed, and personalization
- Hands-on experience with AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make), and modern dev tooling
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and ship in a fast-moving, remote environment
- Strong communication skills — able to explain technical systems to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with voice AI / conversational agents
- Background in growth, demand gen, or revenue operations
- Familiarity with vector databases, RAG pipelines, and agent orchestration frameworks
- Prior experience in an early-stage or fast-scaling company
What Phygital Grp Offers
- Full-time, fully remote role with flexible hours
- High ownership — you'll shape how AI is used across the company, not just execute tickets
- Direct access to leadership and fast decision-making
- Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
Work Location: Remote

Tips for Your Remote AI Research Engineer Job Search
Build a public research portfolio
Remote employers can't observe your process in person, so your GitHub, Hugging Face profile, or personal site has to do that work. Document experiments end-to-end, include results and failure analysis, and write up your reasoning so a hiring manager can evaluate how you think, not just what you shipped.
Demonstrate async communication before the interview
Remote ai research engineer teams run on written handoffs, design docs, and asynchronous code reviews. In your cover letter and take-home exercises, write with the same clarity you'd use in a distributed team standup, because remote hiring managers treat your written communication as a direct preview of how you'll collaborate.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote ai research engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your focus area and apply directly without sorting through mixed location results. Applying in the first few days matters because remote roles often close faster than on-site ones.
Target distributed teams within large companies
Many enterprise technology and healthcare AI companies run fully distributed research units even when their broader workforce is office-based. Search for teams explicitly described as distributed or remote-first within larger organizations, since those units have the tooling, culture, and manager experience to onboard remote ai research engineers effectively.
Remote AI Research Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote ai research engineer job?
Target remote-first AI labs, cloud infrastructure companies, and enterprise software firms that run distributed research teams, since those employers are built for async collaboration. Remote hiring managers screen hard for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to move research forward without daily check-ins. A public GitHub with reproducible experiments, published preprints, or documented open-source contributions gives you a concrete edge over candidates who only list skills.
Which companies hire remote ai research engineers?
Employers currently hiring remote ai research engineers include Hume AI, Truveta, and CVS Health, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote-first AI labs, distributed cloud platforms, and enterprise software companies building embedded AI products are the most consistent sources of fully remote openings for this role.
Can you get a remote ai research engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry roles are harder to land because you'll be expected to work independently from day one with minimal in-person mentorship. Remote-first companies and smaller AI startups are more open to entry-level candidates than large distributed research labs. Showing documented personal projects, Kaggle competition results, or contributions to open-source ML repositories gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate in place of a professional history.
Do you need a degree for remote ai research engineer jobs?
Not always, though a graduate degree in machine learning, computer science, or a related field is common at research-heavy roles. Remote employers increasingly weigh a strong publication record, reproducible code, and demonstrated research output alongside or instead of formal credentials. Candidates who can show rigorous independent work through public repositories or preprints regularly advance past degree requirements at remote-first companies.
Which industries hire the most remote ai research engineers?
The sectors hiring the most remote ai research engineers are Technology & Software, Education, and Insurance, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those sectors rely on distributed teams to source specialized research talent that isn't concentrated in any single location, making fully remote arrangements a structural fit rather than a perk.
