Research Associate Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research associate job in Memphis?
Focus your search on the Medical District and Midtown, where academic hospitals, biotech labs, and nonprofit research organizations concentrate most of their hiring. Memphis's health sciences and clinical research sectors move faster than its smaller commercial research segment, so candidates with hands-on lab experience or clinical data skills have a clear edge. Tailoring your application to each employer's research focus area gets the most traction locally.
Which companies hire research associates in Memphis?
Memphis research associate roles are posted by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, University of Tennessee, and Alsac/St. Jude Children'S Research Hospital and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market is dominated by academic medical institutions, hospital systems, and specialized research nonprofits rather than large commercial pharma, so most openings come from mission-driven or university-affiliated organizations.
Are there remote research associate jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role: desk-based and data-focused research associate positions can be fully remote, while lab-based or clinical roles require on-site presence by nature. About 0% of research associate openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the mixed character of the local market. Epidemiology, health data analysis, and survey research positions are the most likely to offer remote flexibility in Memphis.
How can I get a research associate job in Memphis with little or no experience?

Programs tied to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and Memphis VA Medical Center often have formal pipelines for junior researchers. A background in any life science, public health, or social science discipline makes you competitive, and volunteer or internship experience in a lab or clinical setting closes most remaining gaps.

Most research associate openings in Memphis sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Non-Profit & Social Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Memphis's standing as a regional hub for pediatric oncology research, infectious disease, and public health drives outsized demand from hospitals and academic institutions compared to most mid-size cities.
