Security Researcher Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security researcher in Arkansas?
Most security researcher roles in Arkansas require a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or information technology, followed by industry certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or CISSP. Arkansas does not issue a state-specific license for security researchers, so employers rely on these vendor-neutral credentials alongside demonstrated hands-on skills. Many candidates build experience through defense contractors or university cybersecurity programs at institutions like the University of Arkansas before moving into research roles.
How much do security researchers make in Arkansas?
Security researchers in Arkansas earn a median of about $103,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,410 for the lowest 10% to over $140,900 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security researchers in Arkansas?
Companies currently hiring security researchers in Arkansas include Walmart, Dillard's, and Allied Universal, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's mix of defense contractors, data-intensive retailers, and state government agencies keeps demand for security researchers steady across both the public and private sectors.
Which Arkansas cities have the most security researcher jobs?
Bentonville, Little Rock, and Camden have the most security researcher openings in Arkansas. Little Rock drives the largest share through state government IT agencies and financial institutions headquartered downtown, while Fayetteville's concentration of technology companies and proximity to the University of Arkansas supports strong demand, and Fort Smith benefits from its established defense and manufacturing contractor base.
Are there remote security researcher jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 28% of security researcher openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the largely desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Roles focused on threat intelligence, malware analysis, and code review are the most likely to be offered remotely, while positions that require hands-on lab access or classified facility work typically remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a security researcher in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a junior security analyst or IT support role at an Arkansas defense contractor or state agency, then building toward research responsibilities from there. Employers like Lockheed Martin and Acxiom run associate and rotational programs that accept candidates with foundational credentials. Pursuing an OSCP or CompTIA Security+ certification alongside a cybersecurity degree from the University of Arkansas or Arkansas Tech University strengthens applications considerably for these entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to security researcher jobs in Arkansas?
You can find and apply to security researcher jobs in Arkansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Arkansas openings across defense, technology, finance, and government sectors.
