YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of a Structural Designer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a senior engineer. As a Structural EIT you will be able to perform structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems. Additional responsibilities include:
- Perform structural calculations and analysis of buildings and other structures.
- Assist in preparing deliverable documents including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Work with and coordinate with architectural, interiors, and other engineering disciplines.
- Assist Construction Administration duties including completing field observations reports, responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and evaluating contractor change orders.
- Participate in project meetings; communicate design issues and solutions with the design team.
- Develop an understanding of industry standard design processes and construction means and methods.
- Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time, on budget, and at a high level of client service.
- Assist with the development of design standards.
YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS
- Basic knowledge and understanding of structural building codes and requirements.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building code and other similar material.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience including architects, engineers, and clients effectively.
- Basic understanding of Revit, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Bluebeam Revu; Component Design Software such as Enercalc; Finite Element Analysis Software such as RISA and SAP/ETABS.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 4 years of related experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures is required
- NCEES EIT is preferred but not required
- Experience with earthquake seismic design or coursework is required
- Experience with Revit and other BIM 3D modelling software is preferred
- Prior internship experience at an engineering related firm is preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

PAY TRANSPARENCY
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
BENEFITS SUMMARY
Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
