Technical Solutions Architect Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical solutions architect in Texas?
Most technical solutions architect roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related engineering discipline, followed by several years of hands-on experience in software development, systems engineering, or IT consulting. Texas does not issue a state license specific to this role. Employers favor candidates who hold vendor-recognized certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, which are widely recognized across Texas hiring markets.
How much do technical solutions architects make in Texas?
Technical solutions architects in Texas earn a median of about $133,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,110 for the lowest 10% to over $191,800 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical solutions architects in Texas?
Employers hiring technical solutions architects in Texas right now include Apple, Molex, and Bain & Company, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major defense contractors, and fast-growing technology companies makes it one of the most active states for this role outside of California.
Which Texas cities have the most technical solutions architect jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Houston have the most technical solutions architect openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads due to its dense cluster of financial services firms, telecommunications giants like AT&T, and large consulting practices, while Austin's booming technology sector and Houston's energy and healthcare industries generate consistent demand for architects who can bridge technical complexity and enterprise needs.
Are there remote technical solutions architect jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 32% of technical solutions architect openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves design, documentation, and client presentations rather than on-site infrastructure work. Presales and cloud architecture roles tend to carry the most remote flexibility, while roles tied to on-premise data centers or government contracts are more likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a technical solutions architect in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a solutions architect role from an adjacent position such as systems administrator, cloud engineer, or technical support specialist, roles that large Texas employers like Dell Technologies, Rackspace, and IBM actively hire for at the associate level. Building a portfolio of architecture diagrams and lab projects using AWS or Azure, then earning an entry-level cloud certification, demonstrates readiness even without formal architect experience. Texas-based consulting firms and managed service providers frequently recruit career changers into junior presales engineering roles as a structured on-ramp.
Where can I find and apply to technical solutions architect jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to technical solutions architect jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and beyond. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the employers posting them.
