Verify your medical license transfers cleanly
TN visa sponsors for Physician Reviewer roles must confirm you hold an unrestricted license valid for the work state. A license pending reciprocity or under a supervision requirement can delay the employer's attestation and stall your petition before it's filed.
Target payers and managed care organizations directly
Health insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and utilization management firms hire Physician Reviewers in volume and maintain internal TN filing experience. Remote-eligible roles at these organizations expand your sponsorship pool significantly beyond hospital systems.
Confirm the job description uses physician-specific language
CBP officers assess TN eligibility based on what the role requires, not just your credentials. Ensure the employer's offer letter specifies that the position requires a licensed physician, not just a healthcare background, to satisfy the Physician category definition.
Ask about remote work and worksite state at offer stage
Physician Reviewer roles are frequently fully remote, but your TN support letter must name an employer location. Confirm with the employer which state is listed as your official worksite before filing, since mismatches between the letter and your actual arrangement can trigger CBP questions.
Search for sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Physician Reviewer openings filtered by TN visa sponsorship history, so you can focus on employers already familiar with the Physician category rather than educating hiring managers about USMCA eligibility from scratch.
Prepare a credentials packet before you start interviewing
Assemble your medical degree, ECFMG certificate if applicable, U.S. or provincial license, and board certification documents before you receive an offer. Employers sponsoring TN visas need these within days of extending an offer to draft the support letter.
Physician Reviewer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Physician Reviewer role qualify under the TN visa Physician category?
Yes, provided the position requires the skills and judgment of a licensed physician. CBP evaluates the job duties, not just the title. Roles focused on utilization review, clinical appeals, or case management that explicitly require a physician license qualify. Roles that list a physician as preferred but not required may face scrutiny at the port of entry.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Physician Reviewer positions?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no registration fee. Canadian applicants can receive approval at the border the same day they apply. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship through a lottery that runs once per year, a registration fee, and an October 1 start date. For Physician Reviewers with a firm offer, TN is almost always faster and more predictable than H-1B.
Can I work as a Physician Reviewer remotely on a TN visa?
Yes, but the TN support letter must reference a specific employer worksite address even for fully remote roles. Your employer handles this in the offer letter or support documentation. As long as the employer is based in the U.S. and the role meets the Physician category requirements, a remote arrangement does not disqualify you from TN status.
Where can I find Physician Reviewer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and filters Physician Reviewer openings by sponsorship eligibility. This saves time you'd otherwise spend asking recruiters whether their company understands USMCA, then waiting for an HR team that has never filed a TN to research the process from scratch.
Do Mexican physicians face different TN requirements than Canadian physicians for this role?
Mexican citizens go through consular processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate rather than applying at a land border or port of entry. The substantive eligibility criteria are identical: you need a qualifying offer letter, proof of licensure, and documentation that the role requires a physician. Processing wait times at Mexican consulates vary by location and season.
